You can build a plywood canoe on the weekend for your child. Simple canoes are made of three pieces: 2 side and 1 base. You can also make more complex shapes but this article will show you how to make a simple canoe.
Steps
Step 1. Cut two strips of plywood, one 25.4cm wide and one 243.8cm long
If you wish, create a slope along the ends. Put the strips on top of each other and make 4 holes in the ends using the drill. Use a rope by tying knots to secure them together.
Step 2. Have your child sit in the remaining plywood sheet, and unfold the two strips by lifting them over their head on the plywood (or you can measure yourself, the wider the better)
Your child can choose the shape of the canoe by pushing the sides out. The wider it is, the more stable it will be.
Step 3. Hold the sides carefully and have someone draw the shape on the plywood sheet
Cut the plywood and tie it to the sides using the string. Let the knots hang on the outside of the canoe.
Step 4. Use polyester resin and 50mm wide fiberglass tape to seal the seams
#When the resin dries, turn the boat over and cut the knots. Use an electric plane to fix the exterior before using the resin and tape. You can add footboards at the ends, or a "stick" between the bulwarks to separate the sides.
Step 5. Use contour strips in the side of the canoe
Step 6. Use exterior paint on the canoe
Step 7. Work fast
You can complete the job in 2 to 3 weeks.
Step 8. Finished
Advice
You can skew the 2 pieces of plywood you cut in step 1 if you wish

-

- Use vinyl gloves with resin!
- Inspect the building well before inexperienced people use it.
- Make sure children don't use never the canoe alone.
