Rice cookers are fantastic kitchen appliances that allow you to cook many foods, in addition to rice. If you want to steam, boil or cook food but don't have enough space on the hob, get out of the way and use a rice cooker.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Boil the Eggs on the Sun
Step 1. Add the water
Pour a cup (approximately) of water into the rice cooker.
Step 2. Insert the steamer or basket into the kettle
Some models of rice cookers have an integrated basket available, which works just as well.
Step 3. Add the eggs to the basket
Make sure they stand upright, with the thickest part down. This is to better balance the yolks and, if you want to make deviled eggs, to ensure a perfect finish.
Step 4. Cover the rice cooker with the lid
Remember not to lift the lid during cooking, so as not to let the steam escape.
Step 5. Cook the eggs
Press the rice cooker's power button and set the cooking time to 20 minutes.
Method 2 of 3: Boil the Eggs Along with the Rice
Step 1. Prepare the rice
Many Japanese rice brands suggest rinsing it beforehand, but it is by no means mandatory.
Step 2. Fill the rice cooker with water
Depending on the amount of rice you want to cook, add half a cup of extra water.
Step 3. Arrange the eggs on top of the rice grains
Make sure they stand upright, with the thickest part down. This is to better balance the yolks and, if you want to make deviled eggs, to ensure a perfect finish.
Step 4. Cover the rice cooker with the lid
Remember not to lift the lid during cooking, so as not to let the steam escape.
Step 5. Cook the eggs and rice
Press the rice cooker power button and let it run until the rice is completely cooked.
Method 3 of 3: Complete the Egg Preparation
Step 1. Take an ice bath
Put some cold water and ice cubes in a large enough container, filling it to the brim.
Step 2. Remove the eggs from the rice cooker
Use plastic or metal tongs to remove them from the kettle, one by one. Put them on ice immediately.
Step 3. Serve the eggs or keep them
Let them cool completely on ice. Touch them with your fingers to see if they have cooled down. You can serve them right away or store them in the refrigerator.
