A mocha coffee is a combination of espresso and chocolate that is typically served in tall glass cups. This blend is also found in sweets, icings, candies, and syrups.
Ingrediants
- Fresh and cold milk
- Freshly ground coffee
- Waterfall
- Liquid chocolate
Steps
Step 1. Heat the water:
- The various models of coffee machines have different specific characteristics but, in any case, you must make sure that you put enough water in the tank, so that the pump tubes are completely submerged. Turn on the machine and the pump to transfer the water to the kettle.
- Turn on the kettle to heat the water. The handle that contains the coffee is called the brewing group and must be screwed to the machine. When the water reaches the right temperature, a light goes out.
- Turn off the kettle and press the dose button to allow the water flow to pass through the brew group for 10 seconds. In this way you clean and heat the filter bringing it to the same temperature as the water.
Step 2. Add the chocolate
Incorporate a teaspoon of chocolate powder or 30ml of chocolate syrup into the coffee mug.
Step 3. Pour the coffee
Add the right amount of ground coffee (see the “Tips” section) into the filter and press it to level the surface. You can use the tamper included in the machine package for this operation. In this way you are sure that the water does not pass through the ground too quickly.
Step 4. Mount the filter
Hook the brew group to the coffee machine and place the cup right under the spout. Press the dose button. Within 14-18 seconds, the water passes through the filter (and therefore the ground coffee), extracting an excellent espresso (20-25 seconds if you want a double coffee). After this time, turn off the dosage button. If you notice that the water flows too quickly through the ground, then add more coffee and compact it more. If you have ground the beans, try to get a finer grain.
Step 5. Steam the milk
The milk can be steamed using the nozzle that the coffee machine is equipped with. Open the steam valve for a full 5 seconds before inserting the lance into the milk, this way you clean the internal cavity. If you want a frothy drink similar to cappuccino, insert the spear so that it rests against the inner wall of the jug and reaches the bottom. Open the steam valve fully again and wait a few moments, until you realize that the jug is so hot that it cannot sustain contact. Turn off the steam and remove the wand from the milk. Remember to clean it before returning it to the safety position.
Step 6. Add the milk
Tap the base of the jug over a hard surface and lightly swirl the milk until you get a shiny surface and custard-like consistency. Carefully pour the milk over the chocolate coffee and serve the mocha coffee!
Advice
- If you want more foam you should use whole milk.
- If you grind your coffee beans, they should be processed to a consistency similar to that of sugar.
- The coffee machine should be equipped with a measuring spoon to measure the quantity of ground coffee. For just one espresso you will need 7 g (a spoonful) of ground coffee, while for two coffees you will need 14 g.
- You can use Arabica beans, as they have a more delicate aroma and higher amounts of caffeine.
