Gift Visa cards have a problem: transferring your balance to a separate checking account. Some articles suggest using PayPal, but PayPal doesn't always work, as these cards cannot be verified. In this guide we will see how to transfer money from a Gift Visa card to your bank account using Square. Attention: this method will cost you a percentage of the transferred amount (details in the Tips section).
Steps
Step 1. If necessary, activate the Visa Gift card online on the website provided on the card
Many cards are pre-activated, so you won't have to worry about this unless the card says it needs to be activated via the site.
Step 2. Check your card balance
To do this, go to the website or call the number on the card. Write down the balance sheet.
Step 3. Create an account on Square
To do this, use the app (available for iOS (iPhone / iPad) and Android) or the website www.squareup.com.
Step 4. Connect your current account to the Square account
Square will deposit the amount on this current account.
Step 5. Using the Square app, transfer the credit of the card to your current account
The card will be authorized, the balance will return to zero, and the funds will be deposited into your checking account via Square within one business day.
Advice
- Using Square reader, a 2.75% tax will be applied. By manually entering your card number, a commission of 3.5% + 15 ¢ will be applied.
- This commission is used as a commission on the insurance offered by Square on receiving funds, since Visa cards do not always work during the purchase.
