In Minecraft, glass is a useful item to own. These decorative blocks allow you to create windows, floors and greenhouses through which sunlight can filter, and nothing else! Glass can be used to create panels.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Melting the Glass Blocks
Step 1. Look for the sand
If you don't already have it in your inventory, get it from your surroundings.
Step 2. Put the sand in a furnace
(Furnaces are available in all versions except Classic.) Right click to search for the merging option.
Step 3. Add fuel
For example wood, wooden planks, charcoal, etc.
Step 4. Take the glass from the furnace
Move or drag it to your inventory.
Method 2 of 3: Dealing with Villagers from a Village
Step 1. Right click on a villager
A GUI (Graphical User Interface) will open allowing you to trade.
Step 2. If the villager has glass, you will be asked to pay 1 emerald
Pay and get the glass.
The villager may or may not have glass; you may have to go to several villagers before finding the glass
Method 3 of 3: Create the Glass Panels
Step 1. Place six glass blocks on the work table
Fill the grid as you would to create a trap door.
Step 2. As a result, you will get 16 glass panels
Use them to build windows.
Advice
- Mobs cannot spawn on glass. As such, a glass floor can replace lighting.
- Snow does not accumulate on the glass.
- To let the light filter under the water, make a tower of glass blocks.
- A glass block does not obstruct a diagonal redstone circuit (i.e. when a thread descends from a block and continues onto the one below).
- Creating the glass panels is efficient: sixteen panels are obtained with six glass blocks.
- Glass panels can only be placed as windows. They cannot be used for other purposes, such as making glass floors, for which you will need to use glass blocks.
