Do you have an old universal RCA remote that you want to use, but an automatic code search button is missing from the new remotes? Do not worry! This article will help you find the codes to program your remote.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Identify the Remote Control Model
Step 1. Look for the model number of your remote control (you can find it on a tag behind the device)
Remove the battery compartment panel and look for the model number: for example RCR412S.
Step 2. Search the RCA Remote Code Finder web page
Click on the "Model" drop-down menu and select your remote control model from the list.
Step 3. Otherwise, click on the "Manual" option on the top right
Enter your remote control model number in the box below and then click the red magnifying glass button to the right of the box. Once you have found the specific model, you can choose whether you want to see the manual for your remote control or the entire list of codes, both in PDF format.
Step 4. Note:
in the unlikely event that you cannot find your remote control code on this site, try visiting this site. Search for your remote control, click on the model, then look at the bottom of the page where you find " Originally supplied with models". These are the model numbers of the VCRs that your remote will work with, or in the packaging of which it was originally distributed.
Method 2 of 3: Program the Remote
Step 1. Press and hold the TV button on the remote control
The LED will turn on and stay on. Don't let go of the TV button.
Step 2. Enter the code
Keep holding the TV button as you type your TV or VCR code on the remote. The LED will turn off as you enter numbers and will turn on again when you have entered the last digit of the code.
Step 3. Release the TV button
If the code has been entered correctly, the LED will flash and turn off, otherwise it will flash four times in the event of an error.
Step 4. Try switching channels to see if it worked
Note: Not all features are supported on all models, although all major features, such as channel switching and cassette advance controls on VCRs, will certainly be active
Method 3 of 3: Code Search
Step 1. Turn on the device you want to program
Step 2. Activate the Codesearch function
At the same time, press and hold the power and device buttons at the same time until the LED turns on and stays on.
Step 3. Press the Play button every 5 seconds until the device turns off
Each time a series of ten codes is sent.
Step 4. Press the Rewind / Reverse button to see if it turns on or off again
Wait two seconds and press again until it lights up. You may have to repeat the operation 10 times until you have verified the 10 sent codes.
Step 5. Press and hold the stop button until the light goes out
This operation is for storing the code.
