Kindle, Amazon's free app, lets you buy and read books on your iPad wherever you are, without having to connect the device to a computer. To buy Kindle books on your iPad, you first need to install the reading app, then visit the Kindle Store, which can deliver digital copies of the books to your tablet.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Install the Kindle App
Step 1. Open the App Store on your iPad
Step 2. Type "Kindle" in the App Store search field
Step 3. Click on the Kindle icon, displayed in the search results
It looks like a person reading a book, with the word "Kindle" in yellow on a blue background.
Step 4. Click on "Install"
The app is free and it only takes a few minutes to install it on the iPad.
Step 5. Once the installation is complete, launch the app
Step 6. Enter your Amazon login credentials, then press "Login"
All the books you have purchased will be available in the "Cloud" tab.
If you don't already have an Amazon account, create one. This profile is required to purchase Kindle books on iPad
Part 2 of 3: Buying Kindle Books
Step 1. Open the internet browser of your iPad or computer
Step 2. Open the Kindle Store for iPad page at this address
Step 3. Log in to the Kindle Store with your Amazon credentials
Use the same ones you entered when you installed the Kindle app.
Step 4. Search for the books you want to buy
You can type in a specific title, otherwise browse the releases by genre and release date.
Step 5. Click on "Buy Now" next to the title of the book you want to buy
Step 6. Follow the on-screen instructions to enter your payment information
To purchase Kindle books, you must use the Amazon 1-Click payment method, which is part of your account. Once the transaction is complete, the book will be available in the "Cloud" tab of the Kindle app.
Step 7. Open the Kindle app on the iPad, then hit the "Cloud" tab
Step 8. Click on the title of the book you have purchased
The volume will open within the app.
Part 3 of 3: Troubleshooting
Step 1. Update your iPad's iOS if you can't download the Kindle app
This way you can be sure that your tablet is up to date and compatible with the latest version of the app.
Step 2. Verify that the iPad is connected to the internet if a book you purchased is missing from the Kindle app
The tablet can only synchronize with Amazon's service if the device is connected to a data network.
Step 3. Press "Sync" on the Kindle app home screen if the book is not available in the "Cloud" tab
If for some reason the automatic synchronization of the service fails, this way you will perform it manually.
