With this guide, you'll learn how to make a sheep costume in no time. Sheep costumes are very popular during the Carnival period and for masquerade parties. During the Christmas season they also become more popular because they can be used in living nativity scenes and Christmas plays. Follow these simple steps to create your costume. You don't even need to sew if you don't want to.
Steps
Step 1. Buy a white jogging suit with sweatshirt (kid's size, of course
)
Step 2. Glue some cotton balls to the suit you bought using hot glue or fabric glue
Remember to ball the cotton tightly as you glue it to make it look more like sheep's wool. Cover your pants and sweatshirt completely with cotton. Also, depending on your taste, you may choose to use balls of various sizes. Prepare the costume well in advance of the date it is to be used as the glue takes a long time to dry.
Step 3. Put on (or have the child wear) a pair of white or black socks and gloves to make the paws and hooves
If you don't have gloves, you could use another pair of socks instead.
Step 4. Sew or glue a pair of fluttering ears of white or black felt to the sides of a wool hat or white ski hat
The ears should be about 12cm wide and about 25cm long. If you are unable to draw ears yourself, you can find a pattern on the Internet. Then, put the hat on the baby!
Step 5. Use black face paint to put on the tip of the baby's nose
Step 6. Teach sheep to bleat
Now, you have completed the sheep costume!
Advice
- For a little girl, you could use a white tights with a black long-sleeved shirt and black tights under the tights. Cover the tights with cotton balls and add the white hat with ears.
- You can buy a hooded tracksuit instead of the jogging suit and hat.
- If you want to make a costume that is easier and faster to make, you can avoid using cotton. Simply have the child wear the white tights and white pants along with the other accessories. That way, you can always reuse the clothes when the play is over.
