Whether you call him "The Hooded Crusader", "The Dark Knight", "The World's Greatest Detective" or just "Batman", his Bat Costume has become an icon. Batman disguises himself to conceal his true identity and to intimidate villains, but you can make your own Bat costume just for fun - and if by any chance you strike a few passing baddies into fear, so much the better! Step 1. Choose which Batman you want to play
Since his debut in May 1939, Batman has always evolved and so has his costume. There are two main Batman images:

The dark Knight:
It is the darker version of Batman, which appeared after the release of the movie "Batman Begins". Here Batman is described as more than just a dark outcast from Gotham City - a vigilante who himself lives outside the law. Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne's trusty butler, uttered the phrase that best describes this in the movie “The Dark Knight” when he said, “Hang in there, Mr. Wayne. Hold on. They will hate her for it, but that's Batman's strength, being an outcast. He can make the choice that no one dares to face: the right choice!"

The Greatest Detective in the World:
This is the classic version of Batman, based on the comic. The costume in this case is much more playful and colorful (with accents of bright yellow) and follows the typical detective style in fighting crime. This costume well describes a Batman character who is witty enough to scream "Freeze!" to Arnold as Mister Freeze would have done.
Method 1 of 3: The Dark Knight
Step 1. Go dark
Unlike the first costume, the Dark Knight costume is a little more sophisticated. Here we describe how to make one.
- Start with a tight jumpsuit or leotard. It should be in black fabric and with long sleeves. It should adhere perfectly to ensure adequate mobility. You can go to shops that sell ballet clothing or, if you have to spend a lot of time outside in cold weather, you can use a neoprene wetsuit, like the one used by those who practice scuba diving or those who go surfing or canoeing.
- Add an armor. Use black armor to create the rigid structure of the bat costume. Every part of your body should be lined with this armor, but you have to pay particular attention to the chest and arms.
- Increase the size of your muscles. The Batman costume clearly indicates the tone of each abdominal muscle, to induce fear in villains and villains. You can inflate your abs by adding large amounts of 3D Puffy Paint to the armor or use dense, paintable Styrofoam to build muscle.

Step 3. Add as many Bat Gadgets as you like
Go the extra mile and try adding other items like the Bat-monitor (a black walkie-talkie), Bat-handcuffs (paint a pair of handcuffs black with spray paint), a Bat-lasso (a black rope), a Bat-tracer (any black object with a flashing red or blue LED), Batarangs (black painted boomerangs), etc.
Step 4. Use the cloak of the "Caped Crusader"
You should wear a floor-length cloak, with a straight cut at the end and black. A black sheet should be fine. Cotton is fine, satin is better, Kevlar is the best. Good luck with the latter!
Step 5. Put on your boots
These boots are more like military boots than rain boots. The fewer laces and buckles they will have, the more authentic they will look.
Step 6. The masked man
Crown your costume with the perfect Batman mask. Buy a black rubber mask with pointed ears that extend from the lateral tops of the head. Your nose should be strong and sharp. The mouth and chin should be fully exposed and the eyes should only show white.
Use a little makeup to darken the skin surrounding the eyes so that the mask will make you really look like the Dark Knight
Method 2 of 3: The Greatest Detective in the World
Step 1. Go easy
Unlike the Dark Knight costume, the Batman costume from the comics is much simpler. Here's how to do it.
- Start with tights or very tight jumpsuits. It should be neutral or slightly blue-gray in color, with long sleeves. Step 2. Put on black panties over your costume
Do not use boxers, Barman is an alternative type, He has no problem wearing underwear over his gray swimsuit. Then, find some underwear that doesn't have any writing on it. A dark blue garment can also work, depending on which Bat-era you are inspired by.
Step 3. Put on some muscle mass
Use shoulder pads that you can find at a fabric store to gain muscle mass or use partially inflated balloons.
Step 4. Add Batman's crest
Batman's crest is located in the center of the chest and has been interpreted in two different styles. A yellow oval containing in the center the drawing of a black bat or a completely black bat with nothing around.
Step 5. Put on your gloves
The gloves should reach elbow height, of a similar color to that of the Bat-pants, and should have three side flaps. These fins must be rigid and pointing backwards, in the direction of Batman.

This is the classic yellow belt with a large gold-colored Batman symbol buckle and small yellow square side pockets containing Barman's items. You can use a yellow vinyl belt or find it at a costume shop.
Step 7. Add as many Bat Gadgets as you like
Go the extra mile and try adding other items like the Bat-monitor (a black walkie-talkie), Bat-handcuffs (paint a pair of handcuffs black with spray paint), a Bat-lasso (a black rope), a Bat-tracer (any black object with a flashing red or blue LED), Batarangs (black painted boomerangs), etc.
Step 8. Use the cloak of the "Caped Crusader"
You should wear a floor-length black cloak with fringed ends and a blue border. The edge should resemble the wings of a bat.
Step 9. Put on a pair of black boots
They must reach below the knee. There must be no laces or buckles, Batman does not have the time to devote himself to these things. Try on all black rain boots.
Step 10. Finish your costume with the perfect Batman mask

Step 1. Bring a friend disguised as a member of Batman's large family of heroes and villains
The obvious choices are:

- Robin, the Wonder Boy. Make sure Robin is the right Bat-era character you have chosen. The Robin Dark Knight costume is black with red accents, while the traditional one is a little more colorful:
- Joker. Green hair, white face, blackened eyes, lipstick smeared lips and a purple costume will make you absolutely perfect. The flashiness of the makeup and costume will tell if you are the classic Joker or the more modern one.
- Other great enemies that give the opportunity to get a great costume are the Riddler, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Two-Face, the Penguin, Mister Freeze or Scourge.
