Instead of displaying a traditional bonsai plant on your table, dare with something truly unique and different. Rather than the traditional bonsai tree, step out of the crowd and stand out by displaying unique and different items. With a bit of thread, some beads or semi-precious stones and a jar, you can create a work of art.
Steps
Step 1. Prepare nine to twelve 24-gauge strands. Determine the final height of your sapling, multiply the height measurement by 2.5cm (for example, you want a 30cm tall sapling, copper wires should be at least 75cm long
Step 2. Cut the copper wires of the same size, Fold them in half giving them a U shape
Keep a loop at the bottom (maybe you can use your fingers), wrap the two vertical sections together to secure the loop. (The roots take shape from this ring).
Step 3. Divide the ring into small bunches of thread (about 2 or 3 threads for each new ring
Start rolling these rings individually, then divide them again and continue to roll the threads until a system resembling tree roots is made. In the final part of each root there will be mini rings that with the use of shears you will cut the rings to create the terminal part of the roots.
Step 4. To create the first half of the tree, carefully roll up the 18 copper wires (possibly you can also use 9) of the tree or 24 to make a stem
Go on for a few inches, to where you want to make the lowest branch. At this point, take four elements and separate them from the rest of the bunch. It is not essential that these four elements were close together - indeed, you will get a better effect if you take two strands arranged opposite each other.
Step 5. Roll these strands of branches together to create a bunch
You will need to roll them up a few centimeters.
Step 6. After you have rolled a bunch a few centimeters, take two more threads and roll them up as you did before
Twist the other two copper wires together as well. Check that there is a certain balance between the height of the first bunch, the width of the first bunch at the first "branch" and the rest of the bunch.
Step 7. Continue rolling if you want to have another branch
Step 8. Repeat the process using 4 copper wires, etc
Step 9. Decorate
Add beads or hard pearls if you prefer. Place the tree in a nice container, which can make it stand out.
Advice
- After taking the two threads extrapolated to create a branch, try to twist the ends giving shape to circles then fix them on the branch to make the leaves.
- The tree can be presented on its own or it could be glued to a piece of wood or rock for a more curated display of the work.
