Braided bracelets add a cheerful touch to everyday wear, plus they're fun and easy to make. They are a great alternative to the more expensive ones. You can make them of different types, using multiple strings, adding beads or other decorations. If you want to know how to make a braided bracelet, follow these steps.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Three-strand bracelet
Step 1. Tie three different threads together
Tie a knot in one end leaving about 2.5 cm of thread sticking out. Choose three different colors that go well together, such as red, white and yellow. If you choose two colors that are too similar, such as blue and purple, they will mix.
- You should measure the thread to make sure you can wrap it around your wrist twice - a longer thread will allow you to carry it more comfortably. You can trim off the excess yarn from the end when you finish braiding.
- You can also use melange balls of yarn instead of lots of different colored threads.
Step 2. Cross the right strand over the middle strand
The right one should now be in the center. In this case, the red one becomes the central and the white one, which was previously in the center, passes to the right.
You can secure the end with a knot and attach it to a surface with a heavy object, or hold the garment with the hand you don't use to weave
Step 3. Cross the left strand over the one in the center
Now the yellow thread, which was on the left, becomes the central one, while the red which was in the middle has now passed to the left. Go on like this, exactly like you would for braiding your hair.
Step 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you have woven an entire bracelet
It should fit snug around your wrist. Once you have found the perfect length, tie the end with a knot from which you will leave about 2 cm of thread protruding, so that you can tie the two ends together.
Step 5. Finished
Method 2 of 3: Four-strand bracelet
Step 1. Choose the threads
To make a four-thread bracelet you need to use two yarns of one color and two of another. You can also use four different ones or the same color in reality. Choose a color combination that you like, like blue and purple for example.
Step 2. Measure the wire
You will need three threads for each of the four garments you will be working with. In this case, you will need two combinations of three strands of blue and two of purple. Measure the length so that it is the same from wrist to elbow. This way you will be able to tie the bracelet to your wrist when finished.
Step 3. Secure one end of the wires
You can tape them to a surface or pin them to a pillow. You should tie them together so that two groups of one color are on the inside and the other two on the outside. In this case the two groups of blue are on the inside and the purple ones on the outside.
Step 4. Cross the outer threads over the inner ones
Pass the purple strands over the blue ones and the purple ones on the right over the blue ones on the right. The purples should also be crossed as well. Now the outer groups are blue and the inner ones are purple.
Step 5. Cross the outer threads over the inner ones a second time
Switch the blues on the left over the purple ones on the left and the blue ones on the right over the purples on the right. These two groups must in turn be intertwined.
Step 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until you have made the bracelet
Keep crossing the outer groups over the inner ones alternating the two colors until you have finished the length. Wrap the bracelet around your wrist to see where it ends. It may be a little wider than your wrist.
Once you've tied the bracelet, you should be able to put it on and take off without any problems unless you want to tie and untie it all the time
Step 7. Tie the end end
Once you've found the right length, tie the other end of the bracelet with a tight knot. Cut off the excess yarn but leave at least 2.5 cm to join the edges.
Step 8. Show off your bracelet
Wrap it around your wrist and start showing it off.
Method 3 of 3: Other Braided Bracelets
Step 1. Beaded Braided Bracelet
This fun and original bracelet is made with a cotton thread to which the beads are added during processing.
Step 2. Coiled Thread Bracelet
To make this bracelet, you will need to wrap two sets of threads around a third.
Step 3. Paper Braided Bracelet
To make this bracelet, simply weave three strips of paper instead of thread.
Step 4. Braided Bracelet with Separate Thread
For this work, start by weaving three threads, adding two more as you go.
