X Factor is an incredibly popular television show where ordinary people can take an audition that can catapult them to the top of the best-selling record charts. Some of the talents discovered by the program are Leona Lewis, One Direction, Marco Mengoni, Giusy Ferreri and Chiara. If you want to audition, here's how to get started.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Before the Specimen
Step 1. Find out about terms and deadlines
The auditions are held every year on different dates and with different rules. Make sure you pass all requirements and complete all required steps before the deadline ends.
To take an audition in Italy, you must be at least 16 years old. Registrations for the 2013 season are already closed
Step 2. Learn a verse of a song perfectly
Or two songs, in case the person before you sang the same one. You will have to sing a cappella (no instruments or accompanying music - just you) in front of a member of the X Factor jury and the audience.
-
Avoid trivial choices. Sing Whitney Houston or Adele only if they are the artists who allow you to show your best qualities. Choose a song that will not be performed by 500 other contestants on the same day. If so, you'd be compared to everyone else on two different levels.
The judge does not need to know the song. In fact, if he doesn't know it, it could be an advantage for you
Step 3. Sign up on the internet
Before the start of the season, you can fill out a registration form on the internet on the X Factor Italia website. You will need to do this several months before the program starts, so you may have to wait until next season to do it.
Step 4. Go to a public hearing
If you have not completed the online form, you can still go to the auditions. Thousands of people do it. If one is organized in your area, perfect! Choose your stage clothes and start training.
In Italy in 2013 public hearings were held in Milan, Rome, Trento, Genoa and Bari. Locations can change every year
Step 5. Choose a stage dress
In the audition notification you received when you completed the form, it explicitly states that you stand out from the crowd. There are so many personalities that there is no limit. Choose whatever clothing suits your personality.
- This program is entirely based on the show. Here's what the form reads: "Dress like the pop star you want to be - we're looking for the next music star, so you'll have to hit the judges. We also encourage everyone to bring signs and banners to auditions - the more colorful, the better!"
- They showed up at competing auditions in a wedding dress or with a plastic hen on their head. You may be able to get noticed more without going overboard, believe it or not.
Step 6. Keep your voice warm
If the auditions are months away, don't give up. Practice singing your piece every day or two, until you can perform it with your hands tied behind your back by hopping on one leg. Take care of the health of your voice a lot.
Drink lots of water at room temperature. Avoid alcohol, which dries the throat, and absolutely do not smoke. If you're worried about having a problem, drink green tea, some pineapple juice and rest your voice. Don't tire her out
Method 2 of 2: During the Audition
Step 1. Show up early
There will be literally thousands of other people next to you waiting for their 30 seconds. Parking will be limited, so if you can avoid driving, do so. If you are a minor, take a parent or someone to take their place with you.
Show up very, very early. People will start waiting from the crack of dawn. You could bring some food, water, a chair, and something to pass the time
Step 2. Be patient
You will probably have to wait all day. That is even if you have been notified to show up at 8 am. Thousands of people will have to audition and the jury will not start their work until all the people have been let into the hall. Your audition will start on average 8 hours after your arrival.
Take the weather into consideration. Your hair and makeup may not hold up to the day if it's 12 hours before your audition. Bring with you the necessary to correct your make-up and comfortable shoes. You will be grateful you did
Step 3. Sing with your heart
Finally we get to the fun part! When your number is called, an X Factor staff member (someone you won't recognize) will approach you and listen to you sing. You will have to do it in front of everyone - there is no demarcated and reserved area for singers. Take a deep breath and give your all.
The judge will politely answer you with a yes or no. He won't be able to criticize you or give you feedback. If you succeed, you will be notified when to show up for a second audition later
Advice
- Don't say things that are offensive or that you may regret. You have a chance to make a good first impression.
- Be sure of yourself. Superstars don't show tension.
- Bring some water with you. Make sure it's at room temperature - cold water causes your vocal cords to contract.
