To activate an iTunes gift card, you need to redeem the 16-digit code that is printed on the back of the card. Once in possession of this code, you can redeem the amount of the gift card directly on the iTunes store.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: iOS devices
Step 1. Launch the iTunes Store app
It is characterized by an icon depicting a musical note inserted in a circle.
You can also use the iBooks or App Store app to redeem a gift card code
Step 2. Select the Music tab
It is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
Step 3. Swipe your finger down from the top of the screen
Step 4. Press the Redeem code button
Step 5. Enter your Apple ID password
Step 6. Press the OK button
Step 7. Select the You can also type the code option
Step 8. Find the 16-digit code printed on the gift card
It is visible on the back side of the card.
The gift card code begins with the letters "XX"
Step 9. Enter the code
Step 10. Select the Use Code option
The amount of the gift card will be added to the credit of your Apple ID account that can be spent in the App Store. You can also choose to upload the gift card amount to the Apple Music account.
Method 2 of 3: Computer
Step 1. Launch iTunes
The program icon should be visible on the computer desktop.
Step 2. Click on your username
It is displayed in the upper right corner of the screen.
If you are not logged in yet, click the Log In button
Step 3. Click the Use Gift Card link
If prompted, log in using your Apple account by providing the corresponding email address and password
Step 4. Find the 16-digit code printed on the gift card
It is visible on the back side of the card.

Step 6. Click the Use Code link
The amount of the gift card will be added to the credit of your Apple ID account that can be spent in the App Store. You can also choose to upload the gift card amount to the Apple Music account.
Method 3 of 3: Android devices
Step 1. Launch the Apple Music app
Step 2. Press the ☰ button
It is displayed in the upper left corner of the screen.
Step 3. Select the Apple ID entry
If prompted, log in using your Apple account by providing the corresponding email address and password
Step 4. Find the 16-digit code printed on the gift card
It is visible on the back side of the card.

Step 6. Select the Use code item
The amount of the gift card will be added to the credit of your Apple ID account that can be spent in the App Store. You can also choose to upload the gift card amount to the Apple Music account.
Warnings
- When you scratch the area of the card to make the 16-digit activation code visible, be very careful not to apply too much pressure, otherwise you could damage it making it unreadable.
- The iTunes Gift Card amount cannot be used to purchase other Apple Gift Cards.
