Many girls wish to have a slim build. However, if you are thin in build, it is possible that at some point you may wonder what you would look like with a different physique. You may want to look like the curvy actresses or celebrities you adore. Fortunately, all you need to do is dress the right way to show off your curves.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Choosing the Right Clothes
Step 1. Wear underwear that emphasizes shapes
You can easily highlight your curves with body-enhancing underwear, such as shape-wear lingerie lines.
- Push-up bras and padded bras enhance the appearance of the breasts giving them a more prosperous appearance.
- Look for shape-wear underwear for the lower body, with padding on the hips or buttocks so that you have a more curvy look in these places.
Step 2. Choose flattering shirts
The right shirt or blouse can give more roundness to the areas of the breasts and hips, slimming the waistline so that you look more curvy.
- Peplum-style tops fit at the waist but open at the hips. They allow you to give the hips a more abundant look.
- Boat-neck and bare-shoulder sweaters draw attention to the upper body, creating the illusion of having an hourglass-shaped physique.
- Sweaters with a cowl neck or draped in front give greater fullness to the breast area.
- Corsets enhance the hourglass shape, accentuating the bust and hips while narrowing the waist.
Step 3. Choose a fitted jacket or blazer
They have a tighter cut at the waist and, therefore, help define this point of the body, giving the body an hourglass shape. If you want to increase the effect, wear these garments on tight and not very voluminous sweaters, remembering to button them in the center to accentuate the waistline.
Step 4. Try on high-waisted clothing
Pants, skirts, and shorts that go above the navel tend to rest on the narrowest part of the waist, making this area thinner. By contrast, when the waist seems more tapered, you get the feeling that the breasts and hips are more abundant and that the body is more shapely overall.
Step 5. Try on jeans or bootcut pants
Trousers and jeans that widen at the calf give fullness to the slimmer figures.
Even the sequin details or the embroidery on the back pockets can give the lower back a more florid look
Step 6. Use flared skirts and dresses
Skirts and dresses that widen from the waist give the impression that the hips are more generous. The creases also add fullness to the pelvis area.
Step 7. Put on a crisscross dress
This model tends to thin the waist, making the breasts and hips appear more rounded. It's another great way to get a more curvy look.
Step 8. Try on a dress that creates an optical illusion
It is usually helpful to wear a lighter or more vibrant color on the front and a darker one on the sides. This color scheme is also sometimes referred to as a color block. The darker shades on the sides draw attention to the center of the figure and help create an hourglass look.
Step 9. Add a belt
The belt allows you to have a more curvy look and highlight the narrow waist. By contrast, the breasts and hips will look more generous than the rest of the body.
- Thin belts are preferred to make the waist appear tighter and highlight the curves of the body, thus creating an hourglass shape.
- Try wearing it on any item of clothing, from long dresses to fitted sweaters to tunics.
Part 2 of 3: Avoiding the Wrong Clothing
Step 1. Avoid baggy clothes
Generally, they are not flattering on any figure. They can serve to partially mask the more slender figures, but they do not give a curvy appearance.
Step 2. Forget the kimono and bat sleeve shirts
Long, wide sleeves can make even a slim build awkward. They also divert attention away from the bust and waist, preventing any attempt to achieve an hourglass look.
Step 3. Avoid bandeau tops too
They draw attention to the breast. If you think you have small breasts, a bandeau top will highlight this feature even more.
Step 4. Don't be tempted by thin straps
Shirts and dresses with tight straps tend to draw attention to the bust. If you are not very prosperous, it will be even more noticeable.
Step 5. Avoid pencil skirts
They are snug and tight at the bottom. They can make you look slimmer even if you try to have the opposite effect.
Step 6. Wear skinny jeans or leggings carefully
Whether you have skinny or chubby legs, skinny pants bring out their looks. If you are slim and want to look more curvy, skinny jeans and leggings may not be the best choice.
Part 3 of 3: Train yourself to be more curvy
Step 1. Add squats to your workout
This is a great exercise for firming your butt and being more curvy when wearing a pair of skinny jeans.
Step 2. Do exercises to tone your pecs
Sit on an incline bench and lift a pair of dumbbells or a barbell with weights until you reach the upper chest area. Even if your chest doesn't get bigger, you will be able to strengthen the underlying muscles and firm your breasts.
Step 3. Focus on your waist by working out your oblique abs
The oblique muscles are located on the sides of the abdominals. If you do exercises aimed at toning this area, such as criss-cross or bicycle crunches, you can thin the waistline and, consequently, have a more curvaceous body.
Advice
- If you want to exercise to look more shapely, ask a trainer to tell you which build is best suited to your figure.
- Using the right clothes to slim the waistline and, at the same time, give fullness to the bust and hip area is the easiest way to create the illusion of having an hourglass-shaped physique.
- Long dresses and sweaters with bright and fun abstract or patterned designs add movement and can help you look less slim.
