Wearing a peak is a great way to spice up your hairstyle and add a touch of charm to your outfit. You can wear it in various ways and for almost any type of occasion. If you want to know the right way to wear a peak, just follow these simple steps.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Wear Different Types of Frontini
Step 1. Put on an elastic band peak
There are many ways to wear a classic headband, which usually wraps around the head. This is smaller than a normal band and adheres more firmly to the head; in fact this type of peak has a greater resistance and therefore moves less easily. Here are some ways to wear one:
- Pair it with a high ponytail. Brush your hair and pull it back into a ponytail to create a playful and fun look. Place the elastic band about 5 cm behind the hairline. Finally, stop it with a couple of clothespins so it doesn't move.
- Pair the elastic band peak with a low ponytail. Brush your hair and pull it back in a ponytail. Place it about 7-10 cm from the hairline.
- Match it with pigtails. Divide your hair into two medium-height pigtails and put the elastic band about 5cm from the hairline. This will help you achieve a cute yet sporty look.
- Put the elastic band about 5cm from the hairline and wrap the hair around this until all is hidden in the back. This will help you get a curly and elegant look.
Step 2. Wear a jewel-embellished peak
This is a great look for a more whimsical outfit. A peak with jewel decorations is not only very suitable for long flowing locks, but also for shorter hair. Here are some ways to wear it:
- If you have longer hair, blow dry it wavy and then part it in the middle. Slide the peak to about 5cm from the hairline and let a few strands of hair cover part of it.
- If you have a shorter cut to the shoulders, try straightening the strands of hair or letting them dry naturally and then insert the peak about 5 cm from the hairline.
- If you have a cut that reaches the height of the chin, try to pull back and secure the middle part of the hair with clips, in order to create a slight backcomb for structure. Then insert the peak and slide it backwards.
- If you have a short cut, let the peak be the protagonist in your look. It's very simple: just place it right above your hairline and let it fall forward.
- If you have a very short, "pixie" style cut, apply some gel or wax to lift the ends of the hair and then add the peak about 5 cm from the hairline. Do not use a peak too thick, otherwise it will be too evident and dominant on the rest of the look.
Step 3. Put on a two-stripe peak
This type of peak wraps around the head and consists of two thinner strips of the same color. It can be a really good supplement for any type of look, but there are some specific tips to make the most of it:
- If you have longer hair, add volume by teasing it in the middle and then place the peak behind the ears.
- If you have longer bangs or bandeau, pull your hair into a ponytail and place the peak behind these shorter wisps or behind the bangs. Create a side hairstyle by combing the bangs and bringing them to the side.
- If you have long hair, you can also simply let it loose naturally and wear the peak about 5 cm from the hairline. Make sure your hair is not overly raised in the back and that the peak is not too thick so as not to overly clutter your forehead. This is a very beautiful look, but difficult to achieve if you move excessively, as the peak may shift all the time.
Step 4. Put on a cloth peak
Usually this type of peak is made of cotton and is about 5/7 cm thick. It can be used to create a casual or alternative look. Here's how to try using a cloth peak:
- If you have fringes in front, leave your hair down and simply put the peak on top of it.
- Gather your hair in a tousled chignon and put on the peak by placing it about 5 cm above the hairline.
- If you have long hair, try to use a peak that is perfectly the same color as it and put it about 3 cm from the hairline, leaving it loose.
- Collect the hair in a side ponytail after curling it and put the peak about 5 cm behind the hairline.
Step 5. Put on a traditional plastic peak
The traditional plastic peak is a classic and is a valid supplement to any type of look. It is very likely that like any classic peak, it has small teeth that will sink straight into your hair when you wear it; for this you will have to insert it on your head gently. Here are some ways to wear a traditional peak:
- Loosen your hair and push the peak about 3 cm from the hairline.
- Gather your hair in a low ponytail and place it about 5cm from the hairline.
- Tease your hair, then collect it in a high ponytail and insert the peak about 7 cm from the hairline.
- Create an imaginative hairstyle; collect your hair with clips and then let the strands fall freely to the side. Then insert the peak.
Method 2 of 2: Put on a Traditional Peak
Step 1. Choose a peak that matches your outfit
While this doesn't necessarily have to match your outfit, it would still be better if it was in harmony with the rest of your look and the colors you are wearing. Here are some tips for choosing the right peak:
- If you're wearing something elegant, try a floral, black or jewel embellished peak.
- If you have a more casual look, try a peak with a more lively and colorful texture or a traditional shiny peak or even a cloth peak.
- If you wear a patterned outfit, wear a single-colored peak.
- If your outfit is solid color, try a peak instead with patterns and colors that recall those of your clothing.
- If you wear earrings, make sure they are not excessive, as paired with the peak could create an overly charged look. For this you prefer small earrings and a thin necklace, so that the peak remains the most important accessory.
Step 2. Place the peak approximately 1.5 cm behind the hairline
Place the peak on your forehead and push it back into your hair. Don't go back too far, otherwise you'll have to start over.
Step 3. Put the bangs in place
Gather the bangs behind one ear making sure to pull on even the smallest hair that may be sticking out. Push your ears to the top of the peak until it is well hidden behind them.
Step 4. Position the visor
Push it back slightly, checking that no hair comes out, until you see that all the hair is arranged in the right way. Remember that it is only necessary to push it backwards and not to make any other movements. If you push the peak forward, it will create a bulge in the front of the hair and you will have to start over.
Step 5. Use the mirror for better control
Make sure the peak is perfectly in place and check for any hair that has leaked out.
Step 6. Replace the front panel if necessary
You may need to reposition the visor from time to time. In fact this could slip too far back and therefore it will be necessary to start the procedure from scratch. Or some strands of unruly hair may come out and then you will need to put them back in place.
