Have you ever seen someone with bright, shiny hair? Do you want your hair to be vibrant and colorful too? Sometimes you need to take the instructions on the package to the next level. Follow these tips instead of the ones on the box and you will be able to get the most potential out of Manic Panic tints!
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Increase the Duration of the Tint
Step 1. Buy a pack of Manic Panic hair dye
You have a lot of choice!
Step 2. Part your hair into sections (if you don't have to dye all of them)
Use large bobby pins or pliers.
Step 3. If you are afraid of staining your skin, apply a layer of petroleum jelly to your face and neck
Remember that this is a semi permanent dye and can be removed from the skin easily using warm soapy water.
- Paper tape will do just fine too.
- Hairdressing capes protect your neck and clothes well.
Step 4. Take the strand of hair and apply a generous layer of dye
Apply it as close to the scalp as possible (if any dye remains on the skin it will wash off with the next shampoo). Make sure your hair is well saturated. Using an old toothbrush or tint brush works wonders for streaks. If you need to dye large areas, it is easier to massage with your hands and run your fingers through your hair.
Step 5. After applying the dye, comb your hair
Stop when you see bubbles forming on each strand.
Step 6. Leave on for 8-10 minutes
Step 7. Dry your hair without removing the dye
Usually when they are dry the tips will be very dry and the roots slightly damp. br>
Step 8. Leave it on for a while
Contrary to what the package says, it's best to leave the dye on as much as possible. Don't worry, Manic Panic products are plant based so absolutely safe for hair. If you can, leave the dye on for at least 1-3 hours. Or you can put on a plastic swimming cap and keep it on overnight.
Step 9. Rinse
Use cold water, the coldest you can handle! This helps set the color, leaving it bright and vivid for longer.
Rinse your hair until the water is clean or just colored and you have washed your entire head
Step 10. Pour apple cider vinegar all over your hair
This rinse is optional, but if you do it your hair will be well hydrated and soft. It will further fix the color.
Step 11. Once finished, towel dry your hair and comb it as usual
Enjoy your funky hair!
Method 2 of 2: Add Dye for Very Dry Hair
Step 1. After lightening your hair to a pale yellow, let it dry completely
Do not use conditioner, the hair must be as porous as possible for the application of the dye.
Drying them with a hairdryer or a straightener helps remove all moisture
Step 2. Apply the tint normally
If you use it only on strands, or even all over your hair, add conditioner to dilute it. Apply it as if you were using conditioner.
You can't apply the conditioner first and then the dye because the first would create a barrier and the color would not stick well to the hair
Step 3. Leave the dye on for hours if you can
You can leave it on for 4-6 hours or all night. It fixes better and does not run too much.
Step 4. Wash off the color, but don't use shampoo
Just rinse your hair. You could add some conditioner, but you will find that there is no need.
Let your hair dry naturally; you will be surprised how soft they will be
Step 5. Comb as usual
Always use a heat protection spray if you use a straightener or curling iron. Wait at least 48/72 hours before washing your hair so that the color has time to set.
Step 6. Once your hair is dyed, don't use regular shampoos
Use only sulfate-free ones.
- Learn not to wash your hair every day. You can train them to only be washed once a week. It is more a habit that you have to take, not them.
- The color will last from 2 weeks a month; Manic Panic dyes do not last as long as other dyes, which can last up to two months if well cared for.
Advice
- Rinse your hair under the faucet in the tub or sink. In the shower it can be tricky and you can't see well if you've rinsed your whole head.
- You can add a little dye to the shampoo or conditioner to refresh the color with each wash.
- Manic Panic dye stains the skin. Use almond or olive oil to clean it. It works.
- If you have very dark hair, you will need to lighten it first to get a vibrant color. In online stores there is also the Manic Panic lightening kit, but you can use any of them, just do it the right way.
- The less you wash your hair, the longer the color will last. When washing your hair, use a shampoo specifically for colored hair and cold water.
- If you use different colors on different strands, apply the first color where you want it and conditioner on the rest of the hair and then follow the steps. Repeat as needed.
- The heat makes the color last longer. The more heat you use when applying the product, the longer the color will last and be vibrant. Using a straightener helps a lot, but don't forget that heat ruins your hair.
- If you want to blend the colors, start with the lighter one, follow all the steps and then move on to applying the darker color.
Warnings
- Manic Panic can irreparably stain fabrics / tiles / porcelain and so on. If you get paint in the sink or on the floor, use toothpaste to remove it.
- Manic Panic tends to fade quickly no matter what you do. Don't be discouraged when you see that your color is failing you. Grab the jar and dye your hair again!
- Make sure you are not allergic to the product. Most people aren't, but always read the ingredients, do a patch test, and if something doesn't go away wash it off right away.
