Even though guys don't have as much hair as girls, going to the hairdresser every month to get them cut can be quite expensive. Read this article to learn how to cut them at home, saving you some money!
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Part One: The Basic Cut
Step 1. Wet your hair a little by sprinkling it with water
Use a comb to remove knots and make them smooth.
Step 2. Start at the nape of the neck
Tilt the scissors to 45 degrees while holding it with your dominant hand; use the index and middle fingers of the other hand to hold the hair taut and hold it while you cut it.
- The scissors must point downwards, towards the neck.
- Create a straight line starting from the base of the neck.
Step 3. Continue to the top and sides
Give the hair a 90 degree angle and cut horizontally, in sections of 5 or 7 centimeters.
Step 4. Cut around the ears
Fold the top of the right ear down (or ask the guy to hold it in this position) as you cut in this area. Do the same thing on the left side.
Step 5. Cut the front area
Arrange the hair as it is usually worn and cut to the desired height by tilting it slightly.
Method 2 of 3: Part Two: The Scalato
Step 1. Get the tools you need
You will need a high-quality hair clipper, equipped with different head sizes, a long-toothed comb and thinning scissors.
Step 2. Make a first general cut
Use the machine and the head with longer teeth for a long cut, then switch to a shorter cut until you reach the desired length.
Step 3. Reduce the length of the head to cut the nape and sides
The difference in length will depend on how much you want the cut to be layered.
For example, if you did the general cut with a 4 head, you could switch to 3, 2 or 1 to make the shorter parts
Step 4. Trim the nape and side hair using the shorter head
Keep the machine tilted so that the climb has gradualness, and passes harmoniously from long to short.
Step 5. Even the cut
Use the comb and scissors to thin out in order to homogenize the cut and shorten any parts you may have skipped.
Method 3 of 3: Part Three: Tall and Tight
Step 1. Use an electric machine with a set of adjustable blades and heads
Start with the shorter head and cut the back and sides.
You need to cut the hair down to the middle of the head, creating a straight line
Step 2. Adjust the head to make the blades cut longer
Hold the machine perpendicular to the floor (no matter the direction of the cut) to create a degrading effect between the cut and top part of the hair.
Step 3. Change the print head
Now use the length you want for the top of the hair. Cut the remaining hair, starting on one side and cutting from the forehead to the back of the head.
Keep the machine perpendicular to the ground to create a homogeneous effect
Advice
- It is very useful to invest in a pair of scissors and a quality machine, they will offer you a better result and make your work easier.
- If you are unsure of the length, start with a rather long cut then shorten your hair until you get the effect you want.
