Lavender can grow abundantly under optimal conditions, and propagating it by cuttings is a great way to spread it more in your garden. This article tells you how.
Steps
Step 1. Choose a good climate
Do not try to cut the cuttings when it is too hot or too cold. Extreme temperatures cause the cuttings to dry out and die. The best times to cut them are early autumn and early spring.
Step 2. Cut the lavender
Step 3. Fill a pot with sand or a soil mix suitable for propagation by cuttings
Both will be perfect for cuttings and aren't too moist. Normal earth can hold too much moisture and, as a result, make the cutting rot more easily.
Step 4. If you want, put some rooting hormone on the end of the cuttings
This substance can greatly help cuttings to survive in adverse conditions, such as cold or hot climates, insects, less than ideal soils, etc.
Step 5. Plant the cutting in a pot
Gently tap the soil, but don't make it too hard.
Step 6. Place the pot in a semi-shady area
Preferably, it is better that there is more shade than sun.
Step 7. Water regularly
Water every day if it's very hot, but don't overdo it; the soil will need to be moist, not wet, or else the cutting will rot.
