Most succulents can be propagated by cuttings very easily. This article will give you the basics to start multiplying your collection of succulents and making them become very numerous.
Steps
Step 1. Choose a succulent that is healthy and ready to be pruned
Jade plants, in particular, are very resistant succulents, which will have no problem being propagated by cuttings.
Step 2. Cut a small piece of a branch (with or without leaves)
Make sure the freshly cut cutting is at least 5 cm long. Alternatively, you can cut a leaf off your plant.
Step 3. Place your cutting in a slightly shady, mild area for 1-2 days
This way, the final part of the cutting will harden, which is essential to prevent the cutting from rotting.
Step 4. Select a suitable size pot to plant your cutting
Succulents live best in pots that are not too larger than them. Pots that allow for about 5cm of space to grow will do.
Step 5. Optionally, you can sprinkle the end of the cutting with root growth hormones
This way the roots will develop faster.
Step 6. Plant the cutting at least 2.5cm underground
Be sure to use well-filtered soil, as succulents live best in soil that is not too moist.
Step 7. Water your plant
Make sure you water it evenly so that the soil in the pot gets moist. You can use a hygrometer or even just your fingers to test the soil moisture.
Step 8. Within a month or so, you will begin to see your cutting grow
Over time, the cutting will grow as much as a normal plant, just like the mother plant.
