This is a fantastic trick that will surprise your audience when it works correctly. But that only happens 50 percent of the time… read on!
Steps
Step 1. On a piece of paper, write the word "Carrot"
Make sure you do this when no one is watching you and no one knows you are going to do the trick.
Step 2. Place the piece of paper that says carrot upside down on the table
Don't say anything about the piece of paper; just ignore it.
Step 3. Make sure the piece of paper is clearly visible to the person doing the trick (you) and the one to whom the trick is being done
Step 4. Say:
"Listen to me carefully and do exactly what I tell you. Don't ask questions." Pause for a few seconds and ask: "What is 1 + 5?" Let him answer. "What is 2 + 4, what is 3 + 3, what is 4 + 2, what is 5 + 1?" Let him answer each time, but quickly ask the next question.
Step 5. Ask this person to say the number "six" 10 times, as fast as they can
Step 6. Immediately after the last six is said, ask:
"Say the name of any vegetable". 90% of the time the answer will be "Carrot".
Step 7. Turn the piece of paper over and show everyone that your prediction was correct
If the person didn't say "Carrot", they probably said "Broccoli". If you don't like being wrong, it might be a good idea to get 2 pieces of paper, 1 with "Carrot" and the other with "Broccoli". "Broccoli" will be said fewer times than "Carrot", as a percentage. "Celery" is also quite common as an answer.
Advice
- Make sure the piece of paper looks good, but don't talk about it before doing the trick, as you may fail. That way, the person you do the trick on won't be able to tell you put it on after they respond.
- Play around a bit. If it doesn't work the first time, try again. Try to see what works and what doesn't.
