Slime made with UHU's Patafix is super easy to make and only requires two ingredients! Patafix is a rubber adhesive typically used to fix numerous types of objects and materials; however, it can also be used to make slime. Just mix Patafix and liquid hand soap to create a particularly elastic slime. Add food coloring, glitter, essential oils or beads to modify the base recipe and achieve a truly unique end result.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Create the Simple Slime
Step 1. Work a strip of Patafix with your hands for 5 minutes
Kneading the Patafix helps to heat it up and make it more elastic! Stretch it until it breaks and then squeeze it to reassemble it and form a ball. Repeat the process until it is warm and supple.
- If you don't have Patafix you can use a similar product, such as Pritt's Multi Tack.
- This recipe allows you to make a slime ball. To make more, just double the doses.
Step 2. Add two splashes of liquid soap or shaving foam to the Patafix
Squeeze the product into the center of the Patafix strip after processing it. If you don't have a bottle with a dispenser, measure about a teaspoon of the product instead. Any type of foaming liquid soap can be used for this recipe.
If you don't have any liquid hand soap, use a liquid hand lotion instead
Step 3. Combine the soap and the Patafix
Knead the Patafix together with the liquid soap with your hands until they are combined evenly. If you don't want to mix them with your hands, use a silicone spatula.
Step 4. Add another splash of liquid hand soap if the slime is not stretchy enough
If it feels slightly dry, add a small amount of liquid soap to make it more viscous. Sprinkle the soap on the slime and mix it with the existing mixture by kneading with your hands.
- Skip this step if you don't like slimes with a sticky texture.
- Store it in an airtight container. The slime usually tends to keep its elasticity for 2-3 days.
Method 2 of 2: Change the Color, Scent and Texture of the Slime
Step 1. Add a drop of food coloring to the slime to change its color
Pour a drop of food coloring into the center of the slime, then mix everything until a uniform color is obtained. If you want to darken it, just add another drop of dye.
- Use a drop of another type of dye if you don't have any food coloring in the house.
- If the adhesive pads are colored, the food coloring will mix with the original shade. For example, if the sticker is blue, add a yellow dye to make it green or a red dye to make it purple.
Step 2. Add a drop of essential oil to the slime and knead it to improve the scent
This is a great way to make it unique! Choose the essential oil you prefer, pour a drop into the center of the slime and then knead so that the fragrance spreads evenly.
- Essential oils can be purchased at a herbalist's shop or at a health food store.
- Essential oils are quite concentrated, so you don't need to use them in large quantities.
Step 3. Sprinkle some glitter on the slime to make it sparkle
Choose fine glitter for a metallic effect or use thicker ones to recall confetti. Sprinkle a pinch on the slime, then knead until they are evenly distributed in the mixture.
Sprinkle glitter on the slime outside the home or by doing the procedure on a sheet of newspaper to avoid smudging
Step 4. Add polystyrene beads or glitter to get an original texture
Changing the consistency of the slime helps to make it unique both from an aesthetic and a tactile point of view. Add some polystyrene beads for a viscous, pleasant-to-the-touch texture, or use sequins to make it sparkly. Combine a small amount of beads or glitter, then add more until the desired consistency is achieved.
- Experiment with other small items used in household chores, such as confetti or "crazy eyes".
- Slime that contains small items should be kept out of the reach of children, as it can cause choking.
