The slime with a spongy effect is not the classic one: it is a game with a softer consistency, sticky and fun, even if it maintains its consistency. You can stretch it, squeeze it, fold it and re-pack it. Its dough is softer and not as sticky as other types of slime! Why not take some time to make this hilarious game?

Ingrediants

  • 120 ml of vinyl glue
  • 120 ml of shaving foam
  • 8 g of corn starch
  • 1 teaspoon of borax
  • 240 ml of hot water
  • Hand cream (optional)
  • 120ml bubble bath or foaming soap (optional)
  • Food coloring (optional)

Steps

Step 1. Start by creating a borax solution

Take 1 teaspoon of borax powder and pour it into 240ml of hot water. Stir until it dissolves completely and set the solution aside for later use.

Step 2. Pour 120ml of glue into another bowl

Step 3. Add 120ml of shaving foam to the same bowl as the glue

Step 4. Add 120ml of bubble bath or foaming soap (optional)

You can make the slime softer with this ingredient, but it's okay if you omit this step.

Step 5. Stir until all lumps are removed

The paste should reach a soft and firm consistency, similar to the cream of marshmallows.

Step 6. Add 8g of cornstarch

Corn starch helps thicken the slime paste, allowing it to retain its elasticity.

Corn starch is not a necessary ingredient, but by eliminating it, there is the risk of obtaining a thinner and less elastic dough

Step 7. Mix everything thoroughly

Be careful as the cornstarch could escape easily.

Step 8. Add the cream to the dough

To make the slime more supple, add a few sprinkles of hand cream.

If you don't want to add it at this stage, that's okay. You can always incorporate it later

Step 9. Add the food coloring

Excessive amounts of food coloring could stain your hands or other surfaces, so if it's potent, start with just two drops. Mix it well until you no longer see white streaks.

Step 10. Add 3 teaspoons of the borax solution to the mixture

Stir thoroughly, then keep adding 1-3 teaspoons at a time until you get the consistency of your choice.

You probably won't use all of the borax solution! It is important not to add too much, otherwise the slime will harden and risk breaking. The original recipe calls for only 6-9 teaspoons (44ml) of this solution

Step 11. Knead everything

Once the slime has thickened into a ball and you can easily remove it from the bowl, place it on a flat surface and start kneading with your hands to mix it thoroughly.

If it's still too sticky, add another teaspoon of borax solution and knead well

Step 12. Apply hand cream for a more elastic dough

If the slime is spongy, but not very deformable, add a few more splashes of cream to the mixture, spreading it first and kneading again. Repeat until it has the consistency you want.

You could add 16 squirts of cream to get the elasticity you want, so don't be frugal

Step 13. Play with the slime

With this method you will get a very elastic, soft and fun dough to play with. It's a great way to keep your hands busy!

Advice

  • If you add glitter, you will make the slime more compact. So, if you intend to use them, you may want to decrease the amount of borax.
  • The larger the bowl, the more space the dough will have to maintain its consistency.
  • Acrylic paints can replace food coloring.
  • You can use clear glue, but it's not worth it. The slime paste will not be transparent when you add the shaving cream, so it is best to use plain white glue.
  • If you don't have borax available, try using liquid starch, laundry detergent, or contact lens solution.
  • Replace cornstarch with baby powder if you are low on it.
  • If you are not using borax, do not create any solution with an alternative substance. Just add it to the dough, otherwise it will dilute in the water and cause no reaction that allows you to get the slime.
  • You can get a very soft paste using glue, shaving cream and borax solution, but it won't keep its elasticity or its pleasant scent for a long time.
  • You can use shaving gel, but before adding it to the slime mix, you may want to work it to make it more frothy to give the slime the texture you want.
  • If you don't have shaving cream, use a foaming soap. It will work just the same.
  • Store the slime in an airtight container when you want to store it.
  • Make sure you put the slime in a container or it can dry out.
  • You can get a bigger dough by doubling (or even tripling) the indicated doses.
  • You can use contact lens solution or saline in place of borax.
