Keys open anything from doors to treasure chests, and being able to draw one can be helpful. Follow the next steps to learn how to do it!
Steps
Step 1. Draw a small oval
It will serve as the head of the key. It should be loosely bean-shaped, and open in the direction you want to extend your key.
Step 2. Draw a long thin rectangle from the center of the oval
Your image should look like a hammer at this point, but with a more rounded head.
Step 3. Draw a rectangle at the bottom of the rectangle
It can also be perfectly square, as in the example, or you can make it longer / narrower; the shape of the key is up to you.
Step 4. This step is up to your imagination (for this article, a basic example is shown, with only a few sections of the rectangle cut out to make the key realistic)
Once done, add an oval in the head of the key and two small thin ovals along the key.
Step 5. Review in pen
Erase the guidelines. Add any additional details, such as other shapes on the thin part or a different shape on the end.
Step 6. Color the drawing
Use the gray / yellow combination (as in the example) or bronze / silver / gold for an eye-catching look.
Advice
- Draw without limescale in pencil, to easily erase mistakes.
- Use a well-sharpened pencil for more defined lines.
