Steps
Step 1. Ripe fruit selections
Test the hardness of the mango by pressing it gently between your fingers. Use touch to determine the degree of ripeness, leaving out sight and colors.
Step 2. Prepare your mangoes
With a knife, remove the peel from the fruits. Slice the mango into small bite-sized pieces.
Method 1 of 2: Natural Mango Cubes
Step 1. Transfer the mango pieces to a baking sheet
Make sure they don't touch each other to avoid having to pull them apart after freezing.
It is best to use a pan with sides to prevent the mango pieces from falling out. Alternatively, you can use a baking dish or a large plate
Step 2. Place the pan horizontally in the freezer
Wait about 3-5 hours depending on the size and thickness of the mango pieces.
Step 3. Transfer the frozen mango chunks to a sealable food bag
Label it with the date of preparation.
Step 4. You can keep your mango chunks in the freezer for up to 10 months
Method 2 of 2: Mango Cubes in Syrup
Step 1. In a medium-sized saucepan, mix 225g of sugar and 480ml of water
Step 2. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly and letting the sugar dissolve completely
Step 3. Set the syrup aside and let it cool completely
Step 4. Transfer the mango pieces to a sealable food container
Label it with the date of preparation.
Step 5. Pour the syrup over the mango pieces
Leave about 2.5 cm from the cap to allow for any expansion.
Step 6. You can keep your mango chunks in syrup in the freezer for up to 12 months
Advice
- Frozen mango, like any other fruit, may change its texture after defrosting. It is preferable to use it for the preparation of desserts and smoothies rather than eating it fresh.
