Sending a message from your computer can be useful for reaching friends when you lose your mobile phone. This article provides a useful list of mobile email addresses for all major carriers and some smaller providers in the US and Canada. It also provides basic instructions on how to find your email address, as well as information on using messaging programs.
Steps
Step 1. Determine if you are sending SMS or MMS
An SMS (Short Mail Service) is a standard text message. An MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) is text with a multimedia attachment, such as a photo or video. Some telephone companies have a separate e-mail address for SMS and MMS.
If you are unsure, send your message as an MMS, as this also supports plain text
Step 2. Use the recipient's phone number at the beginning of the address
For example, if you want to send an SMS from your computer mail to an AT&T cell phone with the number (614) 555-1212, the email address would be [email protected].
Step 3. Find your manager's domain information
The easiest way to check this is to send a text message and then an MMS to your email, so you know both addresses. At the end of this article is a list of messaging domains from major carriers followed by the list of minor carriers.
Method 1 of 1: Use a Messaging Program
Step 1. Download the appropriate application for your mobile
For iPhone users, iMessage comes pre-installed. For Android users, Hangouts (formerly known as Talk) is already installed. These programs allow you to send messages to clients on multiple platforms.
There are also third-party programs that offer similar functionality, such as Skype for example
Step 2. Launch the corresponding program on your computer
To use Hangout on a PC, visit the Hangout site and download the extensions. To use iMessage from your computer, you need a Mac with OS X 10, 8 or later. You will find the message icon on your Desktop.
You will need to log into your respective accounts (Google or Apple ID)
Step 3. Send your message
Select the contact from the list or type a name to search for. You can enter your name to send a message to yourself.
