Organizing a charity candy sale is an excellent way to raise money for an organization or something new in your community that needs money. This event is easy to plan, affordable, and fun. Read on to find out how to program it.
Steps
Step 1. Have a cause
Most sales are done to raise money for a charity or cause. Make sure you know where the proceeds will go. It may help to have some flyers or other media presentations available to explain your purpose. This is also a great opportunity to promote your cause.
Display a donation jar. If you're raising money for a cause, give people a chance to donate. Some will eat nothing, but still want to support your organization
Step 2. Get help from your friends and family
- Make sure the cause and date of the sale are clear. Plan how the event will take place and who will take care of what.
- Babies are often adorable and it's hard to tell them no. Just make sure they are supervised by an adult.
- Ask for extra help to sort everything out and clean up.
Step 3. Try to organize the event in a big place
Have the sale take place in a public transit point, in a school or university.
- Sometimes retail stores will welcome your booth installation near their entrance when holding festivals, fairs, markets, open-air public concerts, and other large public events. They are all excellent choices.
- School plays and concerts and parenting nights are excellent sales opportunities.
- Make sure it is legal to do so in the place you choose and ask for permission from the relevant authorities if that is the case.
- Make sure you have a place out of the rain to organize the sale indoors or under an awning in case the weather is bad.
Step 4. Prepare your fundraising booth
You may be lucky and already have a table and chairs and even a billboard ready. If not, you will have to plan everything in advance. You will also need:
- Folding tables.
- Umbrellas for tables or gazebos to protect from rain or sun.
- Tablecloths.
- Decorations and billboards to attract attention.
- A cooler or cooler and ice to keep drinks cool. You can also make a thermal container with a cardboard box.
- Baskets and garbage bags to clean up.
- Folding chairs.
- Slow cookers for storing hot chocolate.
- Boxes and containers to raise funds or a cash register. Make sure you have bills and coins to give change!
Step 5. Advertise the event
Put up colorful attention-grabbing signs and posters in well-frequented areas. Decide on the date and place and explain the underlying cause of the event.
- Will you sell in a school? If possible, make sure that the sale is announced over the speakers or with another instrument and that everyone is notified.
- Promote your organization by dressing the right way. If you're raising money for boy scouts, for example, wear the uniform.
- Participants could dress in a coordinated manner. Ask everyone to wear clothing in school or organization colors.
- Charity candy sales are a good opportunity to bake a variety of goodies. This event obviously needs these products to be successful.
- You can make them yourself - this is usually the cheapest method. Assign the work to various members if you can.
- Another option is to buy them at a local bakery or bakery. This is especially effective for people who don't know how to deal with it, such as younger students. It's also easier for those who don't know how to cook or don't have the time.
- Make sure your products are reasonably priced, otherwise it might be tough to sell them.
- Make sure the prepared products have labels with the ingredients. A small but significant part of the population has allergies or intolerances. Knowing that carrot cake contains nuts can save a life.
Step 6. Sell some sodas too
Many people will get thirsty after eating the delights available, and it's a good chance for you or your group to make some extra cash.
Coffee, hot or cold tea, lemonade, water, and sodas are all great options. However, use common sense - hot coffee probably won't be a hit on a hot summer day
Step 7. Prepare the products you have prepared to move them from your home to the stand
How will visitors take and eat them? Bring a good supply of saucers, paper napkins and handkerchiefs and plastic forks and cups if you will be serving drinks and tinfoil, cling film and bags. It is best not to overdo the inventory, which will cut profits and create waste.
If many people in the organization are in charge of the kitchen, ask them to prepare unit quantities and items to take away, such as two or three cookies, a cupcake or a piece of cake in a bag
Step 8. Prepare everything in detail for the event
Buy or prepare food, set up the stand or tables and start selling. If you've planned everything well enough, the event itself will be the easiest step of all.
Step 9. Leave the area clean
Be courteous and leave the space clean, if not more, than it was when you arrived.
Step 10. Don't charge too high
Remember, it's a charity sale and you don't have to be too venal - the money will go to a good cause.
A good price indicator is around 50 cents or one euro for an absolutely perfect cupcake. Maybe 25 cents for a not-so-perfect one. Don't sell burnt or really bad cupcakes
Advice
- Make sure you offer gluten-free, non-wheat flour products, such as muffins or cupcakes. Try to avoid peanut butter for a charity sale.
- If space is limited but there are lots of sweets, try a U-shaped table arrangement. Customers can approach from all sides and the sale will be easier to manage. In addition, it tends to capture more eyesight.
- Sell goods that everyone can afford.
- Make some really delicious desserts so people will like them and you will get all the necessary funds for your association.
- If not many people show up at the event, reduce the prices of your products (example: buy a cookie and the second one will be discounted by 50%) or prepare coupons (example: buy a brownie and get one as a gift) to distribute to the people in the area.
- Choose a theme! It could be the French one, so you will need to make crepes, baguettes and croissants.
- Prepare some containers to collect the funds or a cash register and have a reasonable amount of money available to give the change. Write down the total to find out how much you earn. Keep them safe throughout the event.
- If you have the opportunity to organize various sales, perhaps on the occasion of events planned with a certain frequency, such as matches, write down what you earn each time in order to plan the right quantities to sell.
- Not everything has to be sweet. You can also make fresh salty pizzas, pretzels, and muffins for sale.
- Allocate one person to raise money and one person to give food to customers, as people don't like to wait because the same individual does both tasks.
- If you have access to the stove during the charity sale, opt for foods that don't take too long to prepare. This way, you can sell what they order from you and you will prevent shortages and leftovers.
- Keep money out of sight, especially for younger children. This will prevent people from stealing your hard earned money or tips.
