This article explains how to get and use the highest level spells in Minecraft. Once you've decided what kind of spell you want and what level, you can create it as a book and add it to your favorite item on all versions of the game, including PC, Pocket Edition, and console versions.
Steps
Step 1. Find out about the maximum level of the spell you are interested in
The level varies according to the spell itself:
- Affinity to water - Level I

- Curse of the bond (computer and console only) - Level I

- Amphibious step - Level III

- Looting - Level III
- Luck of the sea - Level III
- Bait - Level III

- Bullet protection - Level IV
- Protection - Level IV
- Fist - Level II
- Breathing - Level III
- Sharpness - Level V
- Velvet touch - Level I
- Anathema - Level V
- Sweep (computer only) - Level III
- Thorns - Level III
- Indestructibility - Level III
Step 2. Gather the necessary resources
You must have enough to craft the following items:
- Books: 3 units of paper to one of leather allow you to create a book, but you will need at least 46 tomes to create the spell table and bookshelves;
- Spell table: 3 obsidian blocks, 2 diamonds and a book;
- Libraries: 6 wooden planks and 3 books per bookcase. You have to create 15;
- Anvil: 3 iron blocks (which you can create with 9 iron ingots each) and 4 iron ingots;
- Lapis Lazuli: Break the blocks with blue dots that you can find underground to get this building material that you will need to enchant your objects.
Step 3. Build the spell table
Open the crafting table, then place a block of obsidian in each square of the lowest row, one in the middle, two diamonds in the squares adjacent to the obsidian in the center, and a book in the middle square of the top row. When you see the table icon appear, you can press Shift while clicking the icon to move it into your inventory.
- In Minecraft PE, just press the spell table icon after creating it to move it to your inventory;
- In console editions, select the crafting table icon in the "Facilities" tab, then scroll down to the icon Spell Table and press TO (Xbox) or X (PlayStation).
Step 4. Place the bookshelves around the spell table
Each block must be exactly two spaces away from the table and you must make sure there are no obstacles in between (including flowers, snow, etc.).
- You can create a bookcase by placing a plank of wood in each box on the top and bottom row of the crafting grid, then filling the middle row with books;
- There should be only one space between the bookshelf ring and the spell table.
Step 5. Build the anvil
Place three iron blocks on the top row of the crafting table, one iron ingot in the center square, and the other three ingots on the lowest row.
In console editions, select the crafting table icon in the "Facilities" tab, then scroll down to the icon Anvil and press TO or X.
Step 6. Make sure you are at experience level 30
To unlock the most powerful spells, you must have reached that level. You can gain experience by killing monsters and performing other actions within the game (such as chopping wood).
Don't worry about leveling up your character further; you have to spend experience points to enchant items and it is easier to get from level 27 to 30 than from 30 to 33
Part 1 of 3: Spellbooks
Step 1. Open the spell table
To do this, just select it.
Step 2. Put a book inside the table
Take a regular one you have in your inventory, then put it in the book-shaped box of the spell table.
Step 3. Place the lapis lazuli inside the table
Select the gem, then the box to the right of the book. You need at least three gems per spell.
Step 4. Choose a spell
On the right side of the spell table interface you will see a list with different spells. Choose the one you prefer; if you don't find what you want, select the lowest level one.
Step 5. Return the enchanted book to inventory
The book should now be purple and pink, because it contains a spell.
Step 6. Repeat as many times as you like
You probably won't find the spell you want on the first try, so keep enchanting books until you get the desired result.
- It is best to create the lowest level spell when you don't find any option that interests you.
- Once you have created an enchanted book, you will need to bring your character back to level 30.
Part 2 of 3: Creating High Level Spells
Step 1. Learn how spell merging works
If you have two enchanted books with the same magic of the same level, you can join them at the anvil to create a higher level spell.
- By combining two level I spells you can create a level II spell (if any);
- By combining two level II spells you can create a level III spell (if any);
- By combining two level III spells you can create a level IV spell (if any);
- By combining two level IV spells you can create a level V spell (if any).
Step 2. Make sure you have two identical spells
For example, if you have two "Power III" books, you can combine them into one "Power IV".
You cannot combine spells of different levels (for example, "Power I" and "Power II")
Step 3. Open the anvil
To do this, just select it.
Step 4. Place both enchanted books in the anvil
Put them in the two boxes on the left side of the anvil. In the box on the right of the window you will see a new book appear.
Step 5. Put the book you just created in the inventory
Select it, then click in the inventory.
- In Minecraft PE, just press the book to put it in the inventory;
- On console, select the book and press Y or triangle.
Step 6. Create another spellbook
If the tome you just created is not of the maximum possible level for the spell, you must create another version of the same book using the table, so that you can combine them together with the anvil.
Repeat this until the book is as high as possible
Part 3 of 3: Enchanting Objects
Step 1. Open the anvil
Now that you have the spell you want to use, you can apply it to an offensive or defensive object (such as a sword or armor).
Step 2. Place the item you want to upgrade into the anvil
You should place it in the leftmost box.
Step 3. Add the enchanted book
Select the book, then click the center box in the anvil window.
Step 4. Move the enchanted item to the inventory
You should see it appear in the rightmost box of the anvil; select it and put it in the inventory to complete the task.
