Pikachu is the Pokémon symbol of the game, as well as, probably, also the best known in the world, so it is natural that all Pokémon trainers want it immediately in their team in Pokémon GO. Fortunately, even in Pokémon Go, the developers have hidden what are called "easter eggs" in the jargon, and one of them allows you to obtain Pikachu from the very beginning of the game!
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Get Pikachu as a Starter Pokémon
Step 1. Start a new game
If you are already in the middle of the adventure as a Pokémon trainer, to take advantage of this in-game trick, you need to start a new game.
Step 2. Walk away from the three starter Pokémon that are offered to you
As usual, when you start a new game, you see three Pokémon appear on the screen ready for capture: Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander. If you catch one of these Pokémon, the other two will vanish, just like the possibility of having Pikachu as a starter Pokémon (also called a starter Pokémon). What you need to do is move away from these three Pokémon until they disappear from your sight.
Step 3. Wait for the Pokémon to reappear, then walk away again
After moving away and walking enough distance, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander will reappear on the map. Again, do not draw your weapons, but move away again.
Step 4. Repeat this process 3-4 times, until you see Pikachu appear
After you refused to catch one of the Pokémon proposed to become your starter Pokémon, on the fourth try, you will see Pikachu appear alongside them.
Step 5. Approach Pikachu to enter the game's "capture" mode
At this point, instead of walking towards one of the Pokémon that were initially proposed to you, walk towards Pikachu, then select it.
Step 6. To catch Pikachu, throw a Pokéball at him
The moment you throw the Pokéball, the other three Pokémon will disappear, leaving Pikachu to be the first to be added to your team. Congratulations on achieving this great goal!
Method 2 of 2: Capture Pikachu within the Game World
Step 1. Check the area around a power plant
Capturing a wild Pikachu within the game world is a little more complex, but it's still doable. Users have reported that Pikachu appears in the vicinity of power plants; a power plant or other electricity source close to your home could therefore be a great place to start your research.
Step 2. Wait until you are in the middle of the night
Some users have reported seeing Pikachu appear around 3am. Try waiting late to increase your chances of encountering a wild Pikachu in the game.
Step 3. Check the "Nearby Pokémon" menu
When Pikachu is nearby, you will see its unmistakable silhouette appear within the menu sidebar in the lower right corner of the screen.
- The number of footprints displayed indicates the distance between you and Pikachu, where 3 indicates that it is further away and 1 indicates that it is very close.
- Each footprint indicated by the game represents a distance of 50 meters. For example, if you see only one footprint in the "Nearby Pokémon" list, that Pokémon is within 50 to 100 meters of you. Conversely, if you see 3 footprints, it means it is 150-200 meters from your current location.
Step 4. Check for grass rustling
If you see Pikachu's silhouette in the "Nearby Pokémon" list and then see grass moving around the map, you may have a lot of luck. Head to the turf, you may see a Pikachu appear.
Step 5. Select the Pikachu image to activate the game's "capture" mode
Now it's time to try and catch him!
Step 6. In order to catch Pikachu, throw a Pokéball at him
Launch your Pokéball at Pikachu by sliding your finger across the screen. If your aim is good, and if Pikachu can't break free from the Pokéball, it's yours!
Warnings
- Do not download files from the web that contain tools that can change the gaming experience (these tools are called cheat engines or cheat codes). These files claim to be able to get you all the Pokémon and all the unlockables in the game immediately, while in reality they are simply malware.
- If you have made your way to a power plant trying to catch Pikachu, beware of the dangers in the area and make sure you take all necessary safety measures.
