Bacteria are the game's first playable type of epidemic, are the most common cause of epidemics, and have unlimited potential. They have standard modes of transmission and all symptoms available in the greatest number of outbreaks but have the unique ability to withstand the most extreme climates. Beating Bacteria in Brutal Mode can be challenging but if you can manage the symptoms and make sure the bacterium spreads, you shouldn't have too much trouble.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Creating Your Own Virus
Step 1. Choose your genes
When you start the game, you will be able to choose some upgrades for your virus. These upgrades are unlocked by winning numerous games and therefore you may not have access to all upgrades. This mode can also be overcome without an upgrade. The following are suggestions in case they are available:
- DNA genes - Metabolic jump. Gives you bonus DNA points when you pop bubbles.
- Traveling Genes - Native Biome. Infectivity increases in the country of origin.
- Genes evolution - Synto-stasis. The costs of symptoms do not increase.
- Genes in mutation - Genetic imitation. Slow down the search for a cure.
- Environmental genes - Extremophile. Gives a bonus in all environments.
Step 2. Choose a starting country
Your home country is very important as this will determine how quickly the outbreak begins to spread. It starts in China or India. They are the best countries to start bacterial infection in, as they have the highest population numbers in the world, thus speeding up the rate of infection.
- Both nations have a warm climate, which gives your epidemic the natural ability to withstand the heat.
- China and India can quickly infect neighboring countries, and since both countries have ports and airports, it won't be long before infected citizens move around the world.
Step 3. Always involve symptoms
Your bacteria will randomly evolve symptoms as the game progresses. Be sure to involve all symptoms, or many countries will start working on a cure. To involve them, tap the Disease button at the bottom left of the screen and choose Symptoms. Tap the gene that has mutated and choose Involve, the button located at the bottom right of the menu.
Part 2 of 3: Infecting the World
Step 1. Increase the transmission speed
As soon as you start earning DNA points, you can start working on the bacterium's transmission capabilities to develop them. Start with Water 1 and Air 1. These will improve the bacterium's ability to spread on ships and airplanes.
Step 2. Improve the resistance of the bacterium
Bacterial resilience is the unique ability of Bacteria. This ability will thicken the shell of the Bacteria to make them more resistant in all climates. Resistance to drugs allows bacteria to spread even in the most developed countries. Evolve the following upgrades, also improving the transmission modes:
- Bacterial resilience 1
- Drug resistance 1
- Water 2
- Air 2
- Extreme Bioaerosol - This upgrade becomes available after maximizing Air and Water. Give us both an upgrade.
- Bacterial resilience 2 and 3
Step 3. Continue to involve symptoms
Remember to keep involving random mutations, even if they aren't lethal. Doing so will keep research on the cure to a minimum while the entire population continues to be infected.
Step 4. Wait for the world to get infected
This will probably take some time, so fast forward the time. Continue to pop the blisters and involve symptoms as they change.
When the entire population has been infected, you will receive a message informing you that there are no more healthy people in the world. Time to trigger the symptoms
Part 3 of 3: Destroy the Population
Step 1. Strike violently with a variety of symptoms
When everyone is infected, it is time to hit the population hard and fast to kill everyone before the treatment is over. Develop the following symptoms, preferably in this order:
- Eczema
- Sweat
- Fever
- Immune suppression
- Total organic collapse
- Coma
- Paralysis
Step 2. Wait for people to start dying
When people start dying, hit them with another set of symptoms. These symptoms also have the benefit of slowing down the search for a cure:
- Insomnia
- Paranoia
- Convulsions
- Folly
Step 3. Slow down the cure
Most of the world's population should be dead or dying but you may still have to worry about treatment. Evolve Genetic Reinforcement and Genetic Reshuffling to slow progress on cure. If the cure rate reaches 60%, use Genetic Scrambling. This skill will make it more difficult to analyze the disease in the laboratory and slow down research.
- Evolving this skill will slow the heal rate by 15-20%.
- If the healing goes above 60% again, use Shuffle again, upgrading it to level 2 and then to level 3 if the healing goes back to 60%.
- Genetic strengthening is also helpful in extending the time it takes for the cure to be over. Use this skill to your advantage until the entire world population dies.
