Garchomp is a very powerful and beautiful pseudo legendary Pokemon. If you train it well, you can create an almost invincible dragon Pokemon. All you will need is patience to train him, level him up and use him for battles.
Steps
Step 1. Capture a Gible in the Labyrinth Cave (under the Bike Path)
Step 2. Get a Gible with the firm or cheerful nature
Allegra is probably the best, because it will allow your Pokemon to be faster than Salamence, Pikachu and Celebi, and you will be able to beat faster Pokemon like Gengar. You will be able to keep catching Gible until you get one with the desired nature or you can have them reproduce until one is spawned. Handing a Gible's parent a Stones Stone will increase the odds of a good nature. These two natures are the best ones because they don't reduce any of Garchomp's perfect stats.
Step 3. "Train" your Garchomp by having it fight Pokemon that assign EV Attack and Speed, so that it reaches 252 EV in both stats
You will be able to use Protein and Carbohydrates to get the first 100 EV points, if you have enough money.
Step 4. Raise the Gible to level 24 and have him learn (by leveling up) some powerful moves
If you are patient, hatch a Gible egg. This way his stats could be better and he could learn powerful egg moves like Strike.
Step 5. Evolve the Gible into a Gabite at level 24
Step 6. Train it
If the Pokemon is not in the retirement, train it in attack and speed. You will be able to do this by having your Gabite fight with Pokemon that have naturally high attack stats and speed.
Step 7. Train your Pokemon up to level 48 and let him learn (by leveling up) some powerful moves
Step 8. Evolve your Pokemon
At level 49, Gabite can learn Dragon Rush, a very powerful but slightly inaccurate move. Upgrading it to level 48 will give you a small boost to your attack stat. You choose at what level to allow evolution.
Step 9. Teach your Pokemon new moves
When you have your Garchomp, teach him the moves to take on the Pokemon league. These are the highly recommended ones:
- Earthquake (for Flint)
- Stone Edge (for Aaron)
- Dragon Claw, Dragon Rage, or Outrage (your main offensive move) Other moves you can consider are Dragon Breath and Dragon Pulse as well as Dragon Meteor, which does not take advantage of Garchomp's Special Attack.
- Fire Claw or Bite (for Aaron and Lucian respectively)
- Dragon Dance
- Substitute
- Protect
Step 10. Give your Garchomp a useful item (such as Choice Band or Choice Star)
Step 11. Fight with this Garchomp and you could win more battles than you previously did
If you use Garchomp as a team with Tyranitar, Garchomp will have a 20% chance of avoiding hits. Just remember to bring another Pokemon with you that can absorb Water and Ice moves. Another good idea is to assign a Baccamoya to your Pokemon. This way Garchomp will be able to survive most ice-type attacks.
Advice
- When training your Garchomp, try to make him fight with these Pokemon. These Pokemon offer a special bonus in Attack: Shinx, Luxio, Luxray, Machop, Machoke, Machamp, Bibarel, Snover and Carnivine.
- Avoid teaching your Garchomp special moves like Surf. This would waste your high attack value.
- To improve your Garchomp's speed, go West of Eterna city and fight a Fisherman with 6 Magikarps.
- Try teaching your Garchomp Dragon and Earth moves - he will receive a 50% bonus for this type of move.
- If you can, make sure you bring plenty of Full Refills and Revives with you to be ready for anything.
- Your Garchomp's finishing moves should be Earthquake, Dragon Claw, Stone Edge, and Outrage.
- Sandstorm activates its Sand Veil ability and allows the Pokemon to dodge hits more easily and always attack with at least 100 power.
- If you're facing an ice-type Pokemon, it's not a good idea to use your Garchomp, which is very weak to ice-type attacks. However, if your opponent pits an Ice-type Pokemon against your Garchomp, you will usually be able to beat him if you use Sword Dancer at the time of the switch and your Pokemon holds a Baccamoya. If the Pokemon entering is faster than your Garchomp, such as Froslass, switch Pokemon.
