This article explains how to sign out of all Skype sessions open on desktop with your account.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Using the Command Line Interface
Step 1. Open Skype on your computer
The icon looks like a white S enclosed in a blue circle.
Step 2. Log in by entering your username (email address, phone number or Skype ID) and password
Step 3. Click on the Contacts tab
This allows you to view the list of all your contacts in the navigation panel on the left.
Step 4. Click on a contact
A conversation will open.
You can select any contact, as you don't have to send any messages
Step 5. Type / remotelogout in the message field
The command line interface allows you to log out of all desktop sessions except the current one; it also disables push notifications on all mobile devices.
This does not allow you to disconnect from mobile devices, it only disables push notifications. You have to manually log out of all mobile phones and tablets that automatically log into your account
Step 6. Press the paper airplane icon to execute the command line and exit all desktop sessions except the current one
- Some versions of Skype don't have a paper airplane or send key. In this case, press Enter on your keyboard.
- The message will not appear to the contact within the conversation.
Method 2 of 2: Changing the Password
Step 1. Open Skype on your computer
The icon looks like a white S in a blue circle.
Step 2. Enter your username (email address, phone number or Skype ID) and password to log into your account
Step 3. Click on the Skype tab on Windows or Files on Mac.
Both of these options allow you to open a drop-down menu.
- On Windows the Skype tab is at the top left.
- On Mac the "File" tab is located in the gray menu bar at the top left.
Step 4. Click Change Password…
A page to change the password will automatically open in a new browser tab.
Step 5. Click Change Password next to "Skype Account"
You may be asked to enter your current password to verify your identity before continuing on this page, it all depends on your account settings
Step 6. Click on the blue Next button
You will be redirected to the Microsoft Live website to change your password.
If your Skype account is not registered or linked to Microsoft, you will need to sign in with your Skype password, associate your account with Microsoft and verify your email address before proceeding
Step 7. Before making this change, enter your current password in the corresponding field to verify that the account is owned by you
Step 8. Enter the new password in the corresponding field
Once the change is complete, this will be the password to access Skype and Microsoft Live.
Step 9. Re-enter the password in the corresponding field
It must match the password you entered in the previous field.
