Selling perfumes on eBay is a pretty straightforward operation, but there are some restrictions on the types of perfumes you can sell and on how to ship perfumes once purchased by a user. You should also include as much information as possible about the perfume itself to increase the likelihood of satisfying potential buyers.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Create the Announcement
Step 1. Collect all the material
Make sure you have everything you plan to sell in the ad before creating it. This includes the perfume bottle, the spray cap and the outer cap. If you have the original box, use that too.
You may be able to sell a perfume even if you are missing some non-essential parts, such as the outer cap or packaging. However, consider that the missing parts will reduce the market value of the perfume though
Step 2. Verify that the perfume can be sold on eBay
Most perfumes can be sold on eBay, but the website imposes some noteworthy restrictions.

Step 4. Take a picture
You will need to include a photograph of the perfume you are selling in its current condition.
- If the perfume is new and the packaging is sealed, you can take a picture of the packaging. Make sure the perfume name and bottle size are legible in the photo. You should also show the closed seal.
- If the package has been opened but you still have it, take a photo of the bottle with the package next to it.
- If the bottle is clear, make sure the remaining scent is clearly visible. If the bottle is not transparent, you need to specify how often the perfume was used and how much is left.
- Use a white background when taking pictures of colored bottles so that the true color of the glass and the perfume itself are clearly visible. If the bottle is completely transparent, use a black background.

Step 5. Create an account
If you haven't already, you will need to create an eBay account.
- Go to the registration page:
- Enter your name, email address and password before pressing the "Confirm" button.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to choose a username and complete registration.
- You will also need to link a payment method to your account. Paypal is the most used option, but you can also use a credit or debit card.
Step 6. Create an advertisement for the object
When creating the ad, the title should include the brand name, fragrance name, size and condition. After choosing the title, click the "Get Started" button to continue.
- To open an ad, you will need to click on the "Sell" link in the "My eBay" section of the site. You should be redirected to the "Create a new ad" page and from there, you can enter a title for your ad and continue with the rest of the operation.
- Choose the appropriate category for your ad when prompted. Usually, perfumes should belong to the "Fragrances" section of the "Health & Beauty" category.
- When you create your ad, you will also need to upload a photograph, enter a description, choose an auction format (auction or Buy Now), choose the price, and set the auction duration.
Part 2 of 3: Describe the Scent
Step 1. Describe the scent
Since the buyer does not have the opportunity to try the perfume before purchasing, you should describe it as fully as possible.
- At a minimum, you should describe the fragrance type of the perfume. Most perfumes can fall into one of these five categories: floral, citrus, green, spicy, or musky.
- If you know that specific flavors (vanilla, sandalwood, rose, etc.) have been included in the formula, mention them by name.
- If in doubt, check the fragrance manufacturer's description for more information on the perfume itself.
Step 2. Describe the bottle
At a minimum, you will need to indicate if the bottle has any nicks, scratches, nicks, stains or worn spots. You should also mention the type of bottle.
Most perfumes are sold in regular spray bottles, but if the bottle is a nebulizer, you should say so. A spray bottle has a ball to squeeze next to the spray, and for many perfume collectors, this is a more valuable product than the regular bottle

Most perfumes are made of glass, but some are plastic.

- Look for manufacturer brands or labels on the bottle. Mention these details if any.

Step 4. Specify the general conditions
You will have to say in clear terms whether the perfume is new, open but not used, or used.
While you can see the level of the scent in the photograph, you should clearly specify how much is left. If you don't know the exact quantity, estimate it, trying to err on the side. A buyer will not complain if they receive more perfume than indicated, but they will feel scammed if they receive less
Step 5. Mention the manufacturer
You will need to mention both the name of the fragrance and that of the manufacturer. In some cases, two different fragrances may have the same name even if they were produced by two manufacturers. Mentioning both of these pieces of information can help avoid possible confusion.

- If you are selling a discontinued or vintage bottle, you will need to indicate how old the perfume is. Include the date of manufacture for all perfumes older than five years and for empty bottles older than ten years.
- If you are selling a valuable perfume, consider citing a collector's guide regarding its price. Cite the manual, the author and the page.
Part 3 of 3: Selling and Shipping the Perfume
Step 1. Look at the announcement
Check the ad periodically to determine how much interest the perfume you are selling is arousing.
You may be able to make adjustments to the auction to increase the likelihood of selling the perfume. For example, if you don't receive any bids, you may be able to reduce the auction base price up to 12 hours after the auction ends
Step 2. Get ready to ship fast
You should receive an email once the perfume is sold. Send the invoice as soon as possible, then prepare the perfume so that it can be shipped within a working day or two.

Sell Perfume on eBay Step 15 Step 4. Carefully take care of the perfume packaging
Pack the perfume bottle in a secure box with plenty of packing material to prevent it from moving during transportation. Safe packaging is essential if you want to prevent the bottle from breaking and the scent escaping.
- Choose a sturdy packaging. Ideally, you should leave about 10cm of space on each side of the bottle.
- Wrap the bottle in several layers of bubble wrap. Use tape to hold it in place.
- If you have to ship multiple bottles, make sure there is space between each of them. Protect them all and don't let them touch each other.
- You should fill the space left in the box with more bubble wrap, styrofoam shavings, newspaper, or air-filled packaging pillows.
- Put an invoice in the box indicating the recipient's name and address in the box. The invoice should also describe the contents of the package.

- After you've sealed everything, gently shake the box. You shouldn't be able to feel (by touch and ears) movement inside.

Write the buyer's address and sender's address on the outside of the package. Take the package to an office of the service you have chosen for shipping, fill in the necessary forms and pay the due rates. Once that's done, you'll have completed your part of the process.
- Consider purchasing a tracking or delivery confirmation service for your package so you know when the buyer has received it.
- You could contact the buyer once the package is received. Ask them to contact you if there is a problem with shipping and politely ask for positive feedback if the experience was pleasant.
