This article shows you how to cancel a friend request received on Facebook from someone you don't want to be friends with or sent to someone else. You can do this using the Facebook website on your computer or the mobile app.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Use the Facebook Website from a Computer
Step 1. Log in to the Facebook website
Use the link provided in this step or paste the URL https://www.facebook.com into your browser's address bar and press the Enter key.
If you do not log in automatically, log in using your account credentials
Step 2. Click the icon featuring two stylized human silhouettes located at the top right of the window
Step 3. Click the Delete button next to the friend request you want to delete
Step 4. Delete a friend request you sent
Follow these instructions:
- Click the search bar at the top of the screen;
- Type the name of the person you sent the friend request to;
- Click the relevant profile;
- Click on the button Friend request sent placed on the right of the person's name displayed at the top of their profile;
- Click on the button Cancel request, then press the button again Cancel request to confirm.
Method 2 of 2: Using the Facebook Mobile App
Step 1. Launch the Facebook app
Tap the blue icon containing the letter " f" White.
If you do not log in automatically, log in using your account credentials
Step 2. Press the ☰ button
It is located in the lower right (on iPhone) or upper right (on Android) corner of the screen.
If you're using an iPad, tap the tab Friendship request visible at the bottom of the screen. It features an icon depicting two stylized human silhouettes.
Step 3. Select the Friends tab

Step 4. Select the Friend Requests item located at the top of the screen
Step 5. Press the Delete button next to the friend request you want to delete
Step 6. Select the Delete option (on iPhone) or Cancel (on Android) next to the person you sent the friend request you want to cancel.
