This article explains how to quote and reply to a message in a conversation on WhatsApp.
Steps
Step 1. Open WhatsApp
The icon is represented by a green dialogue bubble with a white telephone handset inside.
If a different tab opens instead of the conversation list, click on the "Chat" button
Step 2. Tap a conversation
The chat in question will be opened.
Step 3. Press and hold a dialogue bubble
In WhatsApp conversations, each message is represented by a dialogue bubble. Holding it down will bring up a list of options.
- If you are using an iPhone, a context menu with various options will open.
- If you are using an Android device, you will see the buttons associated with the various options in the bar at the top of the screen.
Step 4. Tap the Reply button
The message will be quoted and the keyboard will automatically open for you to type.
If you are using an Android device, this button is represented by an arrow pointing to the left and is located in the toolbar at the top of the screen
Step 5. Write your message
Use the phone keypad to type the reply to the quoted message.
Step 6. Tap the submit button
The icon is a paper airplane and is located to the right of the message. The message you quoted will appear in a smaller box above your reply.
