This wikiHow teaches you how to attach a file to an email in Gmail or Outlook using an Android device.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Send Attachments to Gmail
Step 1. Open Gmail on your device
The icon is a red and white envelope. It is usually found on the Home screen.
Step 2. Tap the button that allows you to write a new message
The icon is represented by a red circle with a white pen and is located in the lower right corner.
You can also attach files by replying to an existing message. Tap the message you want to reply to, then tap "Reply"
Step 3. Tap the paperclip icon
It is located in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 4. Tap Attach File
A screen will open that will allow you to select the desired file.
If you want to send a file located on Google Drive, select "Insert from Google Drive" instead
Step 5. Select the file you want to attach
If it's in a folder, open it, then tap the document.
Step 6. Tap Select in the lower right corner of the screen
The file will be attached to the message.
Step 7. Type the recipient's email address in the "To" field
If you want to reply to an already existing message, you can skip this step.
Step 8. Write the subject and message
If you want to reply to an existing email, you don't need to change the subject.
Step 9. Tap the submit button
in the upper right corner.
The message and attachment will be delivered to the recipient.
Method 2 of 2: Send Attachments in Outlook
Step 1. Open Outlook on your device
The icon looks like a blue and white folder with an "o" on the cover. It is usually found on the Home screen or in the app drawer.
Step 2. Tap the button that allows you to write a new message
The icon is represented by a blue circle containing a white pen and is located in the lower right corner.
You can also attach files to reply to an already existing message. Tap the email you want to reply to, then tap the "Reply" button
Step 3. Tap the paperclip icon in the lower left corner of the new message
Step 4. Select the folder of the file you want to attach
If the file was saved to the internal memory or SD card of the device, select "Choose from files".
If you want to attach a photo, select "Choose from photos" to open the gallery
Step 5. Tap the file
The document will be attached to the message.
Step 6. Type the recipient's email address in the "To" field
If you want to reply to an already existing message, you can skip this step.
Step 7. Write the subject and message
If you want to reply to an existing message, you don't need to change the subject.
Step 8. Tap the submit button
in the upper right corner.
The message and attachments will be delivered to the recipient.
