This article explains how to use the editing tools offered by WhatsApp to crop or add drawings, textual content and emojis to a status update before publishing it.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Making Cutouts
Step 1. Create a new status update
On the status page, tap "My Status" at the top of the screen. Touch the white circle at the bottom of the screen to take a photo, while holding it to take a video.
Alternatively, you can select a photo or video from the camera roll at the bottom of the screen
Step 2. Tap the button that allows you to crop the image or video
The icon depicts a square and is located at the top of the screen, next to the smiley face. Allows you to open the image with the crop tool.
Step 3. Select the aspect ratio
This button is located at the bottom right, above the "Submit" button. It allows you to choose the aspect ratio of the image from a list of pre-configured options. Selecting a certain option allows you to fix the edges of the crop tool according to this proportion.
You can tap this key again at any time to unlock it
Step 4. Tap and drag the crop frame around the image
The frame is a rectangle or square that helps you decide which parts of the image to exclude and which to keep. The parts excluded from the cropping frame will be removed from the state.
Step 5. Tap and drag a corner of the crop frame
You can cut a large or small section of the image by changing the size of the crop frame. You can change the four corners of the frame.
Step 6. Tap the button that allows you to change the orientation
It features a small square under a curved arrow and is located at the bottom left. Allows you to change the orientation of the camera, which can be horizontal or vertical.
Tap it again to go back to the previous configuration
Step 7. Tap Restore at any time you want
This button is located under the frame and allows you to return to the initial situation. Any changes made will be lost.
