Snapchat records viewing information of snaps you send to friends and share in your story. To check the status of a snap, open the chat and check the icon next to the user's name. The color and shape indicate whether the photo has been seen. You can use a similar method to check who viewed your story. Unreceived snaps are also deleted from Snapchat's servers after 30 days, so keep an eye on their status if you want to make sure they've been delivered to the recipient.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Check if a Snap Has Been Viewed
Step 1. Open Snapchat
If you don't already have the app, you can download it from the App Store or Play Store.
Step 2. Log in with your account
Step 3. Press the speech bubble icon
You can also access the same page by swiping right from the camera screen
Step 4. Look at the icons to the left of your friends' names
- A solid arrow indicates that the snap was sent, but not opened. An empty arrow indicates that the snap has been opened, but not displayed. A solid square indicates that you have a snap to see.
- The color of the icon also counts. Red indicates the snap contains no audio, while purple includes audio.
- The colored icons also apply to chats. A blue balloon indicates that your message has been seen; a gray balloon indicates that the message is pending or expired.
Step 5. Press a name to open the corresponding chat
Remember, snaps will be deleted from servers after viewing once you leave the chat screen
Method 2 of 2: Check the Story Views
Step 1. Open Snapchat
If you don't already have the app, you can download it from the App Store or Play Store.
Step 2. Log in with your account
Step 3. Press the History icon
Step 4. Press the button with the three vertical dots
Step 5. Look at the icons to the right of each snap
Step 6. Press a snap
Step 7. Swipe up on the screen
The extended information for that snap will open, including the list of people who have viewed it. Users who have taken a photo will be displayed in green and will have the arrows icon overlaid next to their name.
If the snap has a high number of views, you will not see all the names in the list, but at the bottom of the screen you will be able to read the total
Step 8. Scroll down to exit
The details page will be hidden, so you can go back to viewing your photos and story.
Advice
- You can see who viewed your story, but not the number of views.
- Your friends will see the same icons when they snap to you.
