Mathematicians argue that numbers represent the language in which the universe is expressed. Numerologists go much further by claiming that the numbers in your life can define who you are and what you do. With a few simple calculations you will be able to find the five numbers that can give you an insight into your life.
Steps
Part 1 of 6: Finding Your Ruling Number
Step 1. Understand the meaning of that number
The number of destiny is considered the most significant of the five main ones. It allows you to outline the potential of your life, the themes that will characterize it the most and the path you will follow. Broadly speaking, this number reveals what lessons you will learn, what challenges you will face and what opportunities will come your way. In fact, you will have the possibility to make different choices, but numerologists are convinced that choosing the path outlined by this number is the best option.
- Every positive trait associated with this number will manifest in the form of unique abilities that will help you in every aspect of life.
- The negative traits associated with each number highlight your personal shortcomings, or rather, highlight those aspects of your person (external and internal) that require special attention to be brought back into balance.
Step 2. Calculate your destiny number
Basically you have to add the numbers that make up your date of birth until you get a single digit. This is a very specific method. Take for example the date December 17, 1986 (note: read the section at the bottom of the article for more information on each number you intend to calculate).
-
Reduce the day, month, and year to a single digit. It is normal that some numbers need to be reduced several times. If so, repeat the same technique until you get a single digit, also called a "universal number" (1 to 9).
- Day: 17 = 1+7 = 8
- Month: 12 = 1+2 = 3
- Year: 1986 = 1+9+8+6 = 28 = 2+8 = 10 = 1+0 = 1
- Now add the three single digits, or universal numbers together: 8+3+1 = 12 = 1+2 = 3.
- As a result, instead of the date December 17, 1986, we got the value of the destiny number, 3.
Step 3. Learn about the "master numbers"
Rich in meanings, often connected to great purposes and powers, the numbers 11, 22 and 33 are considered the "master numbers". When making calculations in numerology, the general rule indicates that the month of November (11), as well as the days 11 and 22 of each month, are reduced to 2, 2 and 4 respectively. destiny and with those of the date of birth it is customary to make an exception.
For example, if in the previous example we had used the date November 17, 1986, our initial reduction would have given the following result: 8+11+1 = 20 = 2+0 = 2, and our fate number would be 2.
Step 4. Note that we have not simply added each digit as we did in the previous example:
1 + 7 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 6. The numbers for the day, month, and year were first reduced separately, then added together. This factor has a symbolic character and is connected to the "life cycles" (or periodic cycles) of numerology, which divide our life into three sections: growth, thematic meaning and challenge.
Part 2 of 6: Finding Your Expression Number
Step 1. Recognize your innate talents and imperfections
The "expression number" belongs to the category of personality numbers and highlights both your personal talents and your shortcomings. If the number of destiny reveals the path you are walking, the number of the expression indicates the tone and character of your steps. Viewed from the perspective of reincarnation, the number of destiny is traceable to the lessons you must acquire in this life. In this regard, the number of the expression reflects the core of your being, including your personal story that derives from your past lives and that accompanies you in the present one. The name that characterizes it derives from the fact that it represents both its innate character and that acquired at the moment of birth.
Step 2. Add the value of the letters that make up your first and last name using the following table
As for the calculation of the destiny number, we reduce separately the numbers that correspond to the name or surname and only then we combine the results. In this way we honor the individuality of each part that makes up one's name (and innate character) before discovering its combined meaning.
Step 1. | Step 2. | Step 3. | Step 4. | Step 5. | Step 6. | Step 7. | Step 8. | Step 9. |
TO | B. | C. | D. | AND | F. | G. | H. | THE |
J | K. | L | M. | No. | OR | P. | Q | R. |
S. | T. | U | V. | W | X | Y | Z |
Step 3. Let's take an example to help you understand better
We take the name Robert Nesta Marley and reduce the individual parts that compose it.
- ROBERT = 9+6+2+5+9+2 = 33 = 3+3 = 6
- NESTA = 5+5+1+2+1 = 14 = 1+4 = 5
- MARLEY = 4+1+9+3+5+7 = 29 = 2+9 = 11
- Finally let's add them together to obtain 6+5+11 = 22 Since the result is a master number there is no need to reduce it. We just found out that Bob Marley's expression number is 22.
Part 3 of 6: Finding Your Heart Desire Number
Step 1. Know the "heart desire number"
The calculation of this number is based on the vowels in your name. For thousands of years, many cultures have used vocal singing to induce a trance state and elevate to higher states of consciousness. We could therefore say that "getting in touch" with our vowels leads us to higher planes. Similarly, the heart desire number (also known as the "soul desire number" or "motivation number") can help you understand what really drives your inner self. The heart's desire number provides you with the answer to the question "What is the real purpose of my life?" and relates to what you want to be and become; it also shows you what you would like to have and the goals you would like to achieve. The relationships you aspire to, as well as the ones you want to avoid, can be revealed by this important number.
Step 2. Calculate your heart desire number
Add up the numeric value of the vowels in your full name and surname. Continuing with the previous example we find that ROBERT NESTA MARLEY contains the following vowels: O, E, E, A, A and E. Referring to the table shown above, we can perform the following calculations:
- O + E = 6+5 = 11 = 1+1 = 2
- E + A = 5+1 = 6
- A + E = 1+5 = 6
- 2+6+6 = 14 = 1+4 = 5
Part 4 of 6: Finding your Personality Number
Step 1. Understand how you interact with the world
If the vowels give us indications on the true reality of our inner self, perhaps the consonants give us a vision on the outside; in the study of numerology it is believed to be true. Your personality number reveals those parts of yourself that are easiest to show to others. It expresses how to filter the people and experiences you wish to have in your life through your outward behaviors.
This number goes beyond your work and also illustrates the main observations of those who meet you, albeit for a short time; show your dominant personality traits, which can be effortlessly noticed by the people around you
Step 2. Calculate your personality number using the consonants in your full name and surname
Follow the directions above and determine your number using only the consonants in your name. Returning to the example seen before, ROBERT NESTA MARLEY, we will get the letters R, B, R, T, N, S, T, M, R, L, Y. Note that in this case the letter Y was considered as a consonant and not as a vowel; in numerology a consonant is always considered when it is close to a vowel belonging to the same syllable. This is the case in this example where the letter Y produces the sound "ee".
- R + B + R + T = 9+2+9+2 = 22 = 2+2 = 4
- N + S + T = 5+1+2 = 8
- M + R + L + Y = 4+9+3+7 = 23 = 2+3 = 5
- 4+8+5 = 17 = 1+7 = 8
Part 5 of 6: The Birth Number
Step 1. Understand the meaning of your date of birth
Although the "birth number" is less influential than the other four, it still belongs to the group of main numbers. Your birth date number represents a special gift or talent that will help you along the path of your life. In the many spheres of New Age knowledge and practice (including numerology), it is not uncommon to meet people who believe that we ourselves choose our date of birth, or that everyone is destined to come into the world on a specific day.. For this reason, the number of the date of birth has a special meaning, as it indicates what the special gift we are destined to bring into the world.
Step 2. Determine your birth number
No calculations are needed, it is simply the day you were born. In this case, no reduction is required. So for example, if you were born on the thirteenth, twenty-third or thirty-first day of the month, your number will be 13, 23 or 31 respectively.
Part 6 of 6: Determine the Main Characteristics of each Number
Step 1. Understand the fundamentals of each number
Below is a list of the characteristics, good and bad, associated with each. If you want to learn more, do a web search for your specific numbers. Remember that 11, 22 and 33 are the "master numbers". The qualities of 11 are like those of 2, but amplified; the same goes for 22 and 4 and for 33 and 6.
