In addition to trapping / relocating (which is illegal in many states) or killing garden rabbits, there is another way to discourage them from entering your property. It is inexpensive, organic and simple to put in place, and has proven effective in many vegetable gardens and gardens!
Steps
Step 1. Get these items:
- A good quality spray bottle (since you will have to spray about a liter of solution every night, it is advisable to buy a valid one, it costs about 4 euros).
- A large bottle of Tabasco sauce (you don't need to buy a very expensive brand, just choose the hottest but cheapest!)
- A four-liter container.
- Four liters of hot water.
Step 2. Mix a tablespoon of Tabasco in 4 liters of water and shake everything
This will be the blend I call 'Bad Rabbit'. In fact it is advisable to label the container very clearly to avoid someone having a bad surprise, it is very spicy even if the Tabasco has been diluted in 4 liters!
Step 3. Spray this compound in the evening before the rabbits arrive to feed in your garden
Spray all the grass, especially at the entry point (rabbits are habitual animals). If you let the grass grow a bit, the rabbits will stop and eat before entering your garden. These animals don't like the spicy taste at breakfast! They will stay away from the treated area and, if you are constant with the spray (it is very important to reapply the solution after rains or when there is dew), you will discourage rabbits from returning to your property.
Advice
- The spicy solution can be sprinkled on the plants, but it can stain the leaves a little. If the rabbit, however, has a habit of eating grass from your garden, a taste of a green pea with chili pepper is a good way to make him stop!
- It is not necessary to spray the solution every day during the growing season. Once the rodents get the message, they will stay away! If you see them come back, start the treatment again for a couple of days.
- Shake the 4 liter container well before filling the spray bottle.
- Spray every night for 4-5 consecutive evenings, this will discourage them!
- This method does no permanent harm to rabbits!
Warnings
- Do not put more than a tablespoon of Tabasco in 4 liters of water. In this case 'more is not better'. Animals are very sensitive and you just have to discourage them and not harm them!
- This solution is EXTREMELY HOT. Don't be silly and don't spray it towards your face or eyes. It pinches terribly!
