Steps
Method 1 of 6: Clean a Tote Bag with a Coach Cleaner
Step 1. Purchase 'Coach's Signature C Fabric Cleaner'
This cleaner is your best chance to get your bag looking good as new. You can buy it online or from your trusted dealer. This method works for the following bag models:
- Classic Signature
- Mini Signature
- Optic Signature
- Graphic Signature
- Signature Stripe
- If you want to use the warranty at a Coach bag retailer, the company may not consider your warranty valid unless you have used a Coach cleaner first.
Step 2. Apply the cleaner
Locate the area to be cleaned and apply a small amount of detergent to a cloth and rub the product with small circular motions.
Blot it to dry with a clean cloth and do not use the bag until it is completely dry
Method 2 of 6: Clean a Tote Bag Without a Coach Cleaner
Step 1. Wet a sponge with some water
Here's how to clean your bag without having to go back to the Coach dealer:
- Locate the dirty area.
- Gently pat the area without scrubbing. This will keep the surface of the bag intact.
- Remove excess cleaner by wiping gently with a clean damp cloth.
- Blot the fabric to dry with a third dry cloth and let it dry completely.
- If you're trying to remove a grease stain and it doesn't come off with soap and water, add a couple of drops of dish soap.
Step 2. Give your bag time to dry in the open air
Once you've dabbed the stain as best you can, it's time to let the bag rest.
- Wait at least an hour depending on how wet it is.
- Do not use it if the fabric is still wet as you could damage it further.
Step 3. Be prepared to clean your bag again in the future
Now that you've cleaned your bag, it's important to keep it clean. Here's what to do:
- Keep a packet of wipes or a clean cloth in your bag.
- When you notice a new stain, put the wipes on the stain, or moisten the cloth and do the same thing.
Method 3 of 6: Clean a Leather Bag with Coach Cleaner

You can buy them from your local dealer or on the Coach website. This is fine for the following collections:
- Soho Buck Leather
- Soho Vintage Leather
- Legacy Buck Leather
- Hamptons Buck Leather
- Polished Calf Leather
- English Bridle Leather
Step 2. Apply a small amount of cleaner using a soft clean cloth
Rub the cleanser into the skin using small circular motions.

Let the bag dry for at least 30 minutes.
Step 4. Apply Coach Skin Cream to restore shine to your clean bag
- Rub the cream into the skin using a clean dry cloth.
- Remove excess residue and polish it with a dry cloth.
Method 4 of 6: Clean a Leather Bag Without a Coach Cleaner
Step 1. Moisten the bag with a damp cloth
Make sure the cloth is not too wet or the bag will be soaked.
Step 2. Using your finger or a cotton swab apply a small amount of body cleanser to the stain on your bag
Don't rub it too hard. Small circular movements will suffice.
Step 3. Once the stain is removed as best you can, take a dry cloth and wipe off the excess cleaner
Step 4. Give the bag time to dry

Method 6 of 6: Cleaning a Coach Suede Bag Without a Coach Cleaner
Step 1. Put some vinegar on a clean cloth
Locate the stain on your bag and gently wipe it with the cloth to remove the stain. This method works best with the following collections:
- Hamptons Suede
- Hamptons Mosaic
- Soho Suede
- Chelsea Nubuc
- Don't overdo the vinegar. Suede does not react well to excess liquid.
Step 2. Dry the bag
Use a new clean cloth and blot the damp part of the bag.
Leave to dry in the open air in a cool, dry place. Avoid direct sun or other places that are too hot
Step 3. Remove any remnants of the stain with a suede eraser
Gently rub the gum into the stain until it disappears.
Step 4. Arrange the flattened parts of your bag
If the part you cleaned now appears flat and without texture, make small circular movements with a wire brush to restore its original appearance.
Advice
