Regular t-shirts can get boring and ugly, especially if they are very large. Fortunately, there are many ways to give old t-shirts a new luster and create a more feminine and seductive look. Read on to know how!
Steps
Method 1 of 2: American tank top
Step 1. Lay out your t-shirt on a flat surface
Use scissors to cut around the hem of the neck creating a bateau neckline.
Step 2. Cut the sleeves
Cut just behind the seams and keep a sleeve that you will use later.
Step 3. Shape your back
Cut the back of the shirt so that it has a deeper neckline than the front. Cut following curved lines that join at the center to form an inverted triangle.
Step 4. Pull the edges so that they curl in on themselves
Step 5. Cut the edge of one of the two sleeves
Make another cut so you get a long strip of fabric instead of a ring.
Step 6. Create the back of the shirt
Lay the t-shirt front down, tie the straps together towards the center using the strip you got from the sleeve. Make a double knot and cut the ends.
Step 7. Finished
Enjoy your new shirt.
Method 2 of 2: Wide Boat Neck
Step 1. Start with a shirt a few sizes larger
Fold it widthwise so that the back is facing out. Make sure the sleeves are well aligned. Use a pen to mark the crease near the neck.
Step 2. Measure your neckline
By placing a tape measure at the base of your neck, go down 5 cm and measure the distance from shoulder to shoulder.
Round the number down by 1-2 cm and then divide the result by two
Step 3. Lay the t-shirt out on the work surface
Measure from the shoulder of the shirt to the center of the shirt. From the center of the shirt towards the shoulder, mark the point corresponding to the distance of your shoulder (the measurement you took on yourself and which you divided by two). This will be where you will start the neck cut.
Step 4. Cut the front part first
Making sure you don't cut the back as well, make a circular cut from the shoulder to the center of the shirt where you made your mark. Then, a horizontal cut across the shoulder all the way to the starting point to loosen the neck and create a cuff.
Step 5. Fold the resulting edge over the other shoulder
Use this as a reference to continue cutting all the way around the neck of the shirt until you reach the other shoulder. Again, make sure you only cut the front.
Step 6. Cut the back of the t-shirt
To do this, simply follow the edge of the neck. Making the neckline too deep in the back will make the hole too big and the shirt will hang too far from the shoulders.
Step 7. Trim the edges
Cut them from the sleeves and the bottom of the shirt.
Step 8. Pull the edges so that they curl in on themselves
Step 9. Finished
Put on your new shirt to show your shoulders.
Advice
- Make the neckline of the shirt more or less deep, according to your preferences. You may want to try on the shirt first and make marks to determine where you want to cut.
- If possible, practice a little by first cutting a shirt that you don't care about ruining.
