If a silk garment is wrinkled, it's easy to fix it quickly with the methods outlined in this article. Consider whether the creases are light or difficult. Additionally, you can also try using steam.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Light Wrinkles
Step 1. Set the iron to the lowest temperature
Silk burns easily, so it doesn't have to be too hot.
Step 2. Turn the garment inside out
Step 3. Place it on the ironing board
Lay a cloth, such as a thin towel, on top of the silk.
Step 4. Iron the creases
Don't leave the iron on the same spot for too long.
If you want the silk to be slightly damp, gently sprinkle some water on the towel or garment
Step 5. Hang the garment and let it dry
This will help remove any wrinkles that are left.
Turn it over again before setting it to dry
Method 2 of 3: Difficult creasing
Step 1. Wet the fabric completely by immersing it in water or by spraying it directly on the garment
If it gets wet, squeeze it out.
Step 2. Turn the garment inside out
Step 3. Place it on the ironing board and place a cloth, such as a thin towel, on the silk
Step 4. Iron the silk
Set the iron to the lowest temperature to get rid of wrinkles. Don't leave it on one spot for too long.
Step 5. Hang the garment and let it dry
To get rid of wrinkles better, hang it in a steamy room.
Method 3 of 3: Remove Wrinkles with Steam
Step 1. Hang the garment in the bathroom
Take a shower and let the steam get rid of the wrinkles.
Step 2. Use a manual steam cleaner
Hang the silk garment. Clean the creases on both the front and back to remove them. Follow the specific instructions provided by the device manufacturer.
Advice
- If you wash a silk garment, hang it up to dry. The creases will go away thanks to the weight of the garment.
- Some irons are steam powered. However, before ironing you still need to put a cloth on the silk.
