If you are a man, you are likely to have a lot of uncertainties regarding hair dyes. After the first attempt, many get discouraged and give up. In this article, you will find simple ways to ensure that you get a natural effect, while preventing the dye from taking on artificial and brassy shades.
Steps
Step 1. Choose a color that allows you to change your look in a discreet and natural way
Unfortunately, in many societies, visibly dyed hair can be a source of embarrassment for men. To avoid this, go for hues that come close to your natural color, at most one or two tones lighter or darker. Your goal should be to look for a tint that is one or two tones darker than the final result you want to achieve, in order to prepare for the eventuality of it fading.
- If you have naturally reddish highlights, look for a tint with warm tones.
- If you don't have a reddish hue, choose a color with cool tones. Ash tones are good for most men.
Step 2. Choose a good quality tint
Almost all supermarket products give a not very homogeneous result. Instead, look for a professional color to apply with a brush and specifically for men.
When you go to buy the dye, also look for a special brush. If the product does not offer this tool, you can buy it in a perfumery or beauty salon
Step 3. Mix the dye with the developer
Read the product label for preparation instructions. Men's hair can be more resistant to the action of dye. To ensure deeper pigmentation, try changing the ratio of tint to developer. Also, use a developer with a higher volume. This step may not be necessary for all hair types or all colors.
For example, if your product requires a dye-to-developer ratio of 1: 1 (20g color to 20ml developer), try increasing it to 3: 2 (20g color and 10ml developer). When making this change, use a developer with a larger volume (for example 30 instead of 20)
Step 4. Apply the tint with a brush
If you soak your hair in bulk, the end result will be unnatural. Instead, apply it with a special brush. Pay particular attention to the temples and sides of the head, letting your natural color show slightly.
You can also apply color on a comb with the help of a tint brush. Gently comb your hair to distribute the dye and achieve light coverage
Step 5. Rinse
Read the product instructions to know the laying times of the color. Reduce them for a more natural effect. Rinse the product in a large sink or bathtub to avoid wetting the surrounding surfaces.
