Blessed are you if you are about to dress up as Santa for a Christmas party or for work. Who wouldn't want to pretend to be a cheerful old elf? If you're a little worried that you won't be convincing enough, keep reading.
Steps
Step 1. Prepare the costume
A red hat, a red jacket with some white fur on it, a huge black belt, red pants with white fur on the bottom, and a pair of big black boots. If you don't already have a long white beard, buy a realistic one.
Step 2. Get the right attitude
Always be smiling! Don't be frowning. Laugh, smile and go ho-ho-ho. You might feel stupid for doing this, but if you have a good costume, people won't know who you are!
Step 3. If you are going to interact with the children, make sure you do it right
If they're sitting on their lap, be sure to ask them what they want for Christmas. Give him a hug or a high-five. Kids love that stuff. Some children may say "You are not the real Santa!". This problem can be addressed in 2 ways.
- Tell the boy, "That's right, son. I'm just a lookalike. The real Santa is busy making toys for all of you girls and boys in his North Pole workshop, so he told me to come down and visit you.". This works quite well, especially if you have a fake beard, because sometimes some cheeky kid will try to rip off your fake beard to prove you're not Santa.
- He claims to be the real Santa Claus. Tell the guy, "Of course I'm the real Santa! Ho-ho-ho!", And give him a candy cane to keep him comfortable and not to blow your cover.
Step 4. Never yell or get angry at children sitting on your lap
It is the number one rule of a good Santa Claus. You must love children!
Step 5. Buy a large red sack and fill it with candy canes
If you have kids sitting on your lap, take a picture and give them a candy cane from your sack after each guy tells you he wants for Christmas. Children love these things. If you're at an adult Christmas party, happily hop around and give candy canes to adults. Add a "Ho-ho-ho! Merry Christmas!" and you will most likely make them smile.
Advice
- Your goal as a Santa Claus lookalike is to spread the joy of Christmas to everyone. Even to yourself.
- Do not promise children that they will receive a specific gift, you could ruin the image of Santa Claus.
- Take a picture of yourself before you undress, you can send it to all friends and family as a Christmas card.
