Welcome: This is a guide to teach you the basics of organizing a photography contest. It's a nice tip to help you organize your ideas and to make sure your contest goes well and encounters as few problems as possible.
Steps
Step 1. Decide on the details of your contest, such as the main theme and sub-categories
Decide if a minimum donation is required to participate. Decide on the prizes of the contest winners, if you want them to be there. Then send everything you wrote to the municipal administration to get the competition approved.
Step 2. Choose judges that are respected and well known by most of the people who will enter the contest
Furthermore, it is important to be sure that the judges chosen are impartial and objective.
Step 3. Make flyers and posters to stick and distribute around and, if necessary, have them approved by the city administration as well
Once you've done that, spread the word by word of mouth! Tell as many people as possible about your contest.
Step 4. Collect all participant works
As they are delivered to you, organize them well and make sure there are the names and details of all participants, preferably on a form.
Step 5. Announce the end of the contest and make one last call for last minute deliveries
Step 6. Organize your photographic work
Make a calculation of all the donations received with the deliveries of the works. Collect all the money they owe you. After you have all the jobs divided into predetermined categories, reduce each category to the best three photos.
Step 7. After the judges have delivered their verdict, find a place to put the winning photographs
Display them in a way that they draw attention and are easy to notice.
Step 8. Find the winners and award them the prizes they have won
Advice
- Advertise the contest in advance and get posters and flyers approved before it starts.
- Make signs that are colorful, direct and easy to notice.
- Organize jobs as they are delivered to you, don't wait until the contest is over.
- Make sure all attendees give their contact information and write down the category they want to enter for.
Warnings
- Do not accept jobs without donations if you have decided that they are mandatory.
- Make forms to fill out so attendees can fill them out and hand them over to you. So there will be less confusion!
- Advertise prizes and contest details to inform entrants of their role in the competition.
