There is nothing sweeter than a rose, except a handmade rose! It can be a nice addition to the bouquet that you will give to someone you love, from your mother to your loved one, but also an alternative decoration for your home. It will still be a great gift for anyone!
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Simple version
Step 1. Cut a 5 x 5cm piece of tape
It doesn't matter if you are precise, the value is indicative.
Step 2. Fold one corner down, leaving some of the adhesive on the sides uncovered
Step 3. Fold the left corner as shown in the animated image
Step 4. Take the straw / stick or any other object you want to use as a stem and roll the newly created petal around it
Try angling it slightly to give the impression of a rose opening up.
Step 5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 placing the petals on top of each other in the same direction
After a while you should find yourself a rose in your hands.
Step 6. For the stem, cover the straw / stick with the adhesive tape
Step 7. Finally, add a little more ribbon under the petal part to make the rose more resistant
Method 2 of 3: Intermediate version
Step 1. Gather what you will need
You will need adhesive tape of the color you want and some wire if you want to make the stem of the rose you are going to create more resistant. Alternatively you can use a ballpoint pen if you want to create a biso-rosa or rosa-biro.
Step 2. Create the stem
Cut a piece of duct tape the size of your stem (25cm will be fine) and roll it up. If you are using wire or ballpoint pen, wrap them in the tape until you have completely covered them (leave the tip of the ballpoint pen uncovered!).
Step 3. Make the petals
Cut small pieces of tape and fold the first one as shown in the image, leaving some of the adhesive part uncovered on the bottom and side. Now repeat with the other corner. You should have about 1cm of adhesive paste still uncovered.
Step 4. Create the central part of the rose
Roll the petal tightly around the stem. The center of the rose should be about half an inch lower than the rest of the rose, keep this in mind when staring at the very first petal. Add more petals around, making sure they are relatively close to the first one (don't space them too far, it's not the right time yet).
Step 5. Finish the squad
After the center of the rose is done, start making wider petals and place them higher on the stem. Continue until the rose is the desired size and space the petals more apart.
Step 6. Ta-Da
Now you will have a beautiful rose of adhesive tape!
Method 3 of 3: Advanced version
Step 1. Gather what you will need
Step 2. Create a petal similar to what you did for the rose of intermediate difficulty
Take two pieces of ribbon about 5cm long and join them along one side. Fold the top half together and cut it out to give it the shape of a real rose petal.
Step 3. Make 5 petals like this
Step 4. Place a dime (or similar object) in the center of a piece of tape (sticky side)
Take the scraps of the clippings and ball them up. Place your new ball of adhesive tape on top of the coin. Now fold the sides of the adhesive tape. You should be able to form a kind of pyramid. Make the tip as triangular as possible, and in general try to make an object as rounded and symmetrical as possible.
Step 5. Glue the sticky side of a petal to the bottom of the newly created pyramid
Attach both sides of the petal to the sides of the side triangle using the adhesive from the petal itself, but not too firmly.
Step 6. Glue the base of another petal to the bottom of the usual pyramid
Make one side of this petal slightly overlap the first petal. Fix (but not excessively) the overlapping side as close to the base as possible. It also fixes to the other side, this time more firmly.
Step 7. Attach the remaining petals in the same way
Step 8. Cut a thin strip of ribbon the color of the petals
Step 9. Secure the petals using the strip of ribbon you just cut
Make sure you stick it on the top of the dime so you have the right shape when you attach the sepal.
Step 10. Attach the sepal
Cut a square piece of ribbon and place the rose in the center of it, on the sticky side. Using the shape of the dime as a guide, fold the corners of the new piece of tape. In the end, it should look like the same. Shape the corners to shape them into leaflets.
Step 11. Take a piece of wire and cover it with adhesive tape
Make sure you leave one end of the thread free from the tape.
Step 12. Using strips of masking tape, attach the rose bud to the newly created stem
Make sure the strips are the same color as the sepal.
Step 13. Cut a piece of tape about 10cm long and fold it back on itself
At this point, cut it out in the shape of a leaf.
Step 14. Pinch the base of the leaf so that the two opposites touch
With a small, thin strip of tape, pin one end of the leaf in this position so that the leaf remains curved.
Step 15. Cut 4 more leaves and shape them as described in step 14
Step 16. Tie a leaf to the stem using another strip of masking tape
Step 17. Attach the other leaves in the same way
Step 18. Bend the rose petals slightly outwards to make it more realistic
Also, fold the stem so that the rose is slightly facing up.
Step 19. You are done
Enjoy your rose!
Advice
- Use bright colors, they will make the pink lively and beautiful.
- When you cut the duct tape, make sure it is tight, or the scissors will curl it!
- A gray rose doesn't always look beautiful. If you use regular duct tape, you can color it or add some fun details, but if you can use colored tape it is better. I don't recommend buying it at Esselunga or other big chains because it can be quite expensive, but you will find it cheaply in those shops that sell everything at 99cent!
- If you use an old table as a work surface, you can attach pieces of tape to it while doing something else.
- You can also not use the classic green and red colors, be creative!
- When you are done you can customize your roses to make them even more beautiful.
- Using colored tape will make your roses even more beautiful. Alternatively, you can spray paint them, but do it in a well-ventilated place, and be careful not to get dirty!
- Duct tape is better cut with scissors than with a blade.
- Use a thick piece of cardboard as a plane on which to cut the ribbon.
- The best way to measure and cut the tape is to use a ruler to measure and a cutter to cut the pieces.
- If your tape is sticky enough to stick to scissors, wet them before cutting.
