Get your rigged Nerf gun and ski mask ready - it's time to play. Nerf (Assassin or Sniper) is a popular game on some campuses, certain schools or campsites or other places where a group of people hang out regularly and can always be on guard. The game continues until all the participants are eliminated, so it is useful to play in not too large spaces and with people you meet regularly. Requires at least 3 players. You can start your own game or join one already in progress. See step one for more information.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Learn the rules
Step 1. Learn the basic rules
Each player receives an assignment on a card, or sometimes via SMS. That post will be the name of another player. The object of the game is to eliminate that player, directly or indirectly, with your Nerf gun.
- Many games require a "killing blow" in which the bullet hits the victim in the head or torso.
- You are not allowed to defend yourself unless you see another player actively attempting to eliminate you.
- Always keep the assignment form with you in case you need to demonstrate your goal to the referee.
Step 2. Find a group of willing players
You need at least 3 people, along with an impartial "referee" or an organizer who can validate the shots, keep the score and organize the game.
If you are joining a game that is already in progress, there may be a number of rules that the referee will let you know about. Listen carefully and follow the rules to have fun. If you don't like the organization of a particular match, start yours with your own rules
Step 3. Set a deadline
Some games have a deadline of a week or several days before all eliminated players “restart” and the game can start over. A time limit for each round tends to give a sense of urgency, but play the way you like. All matches are different, so you can tailor yours to your particular interests.
Step 4. Establish Safe Zones
Often the refreshment areas and the like are untouchable and are to be considered as "safe areas" in which one cannot be eliminated. Players who have jobs will usually include their workplace in these areas.
It is usually against the regulation to "hole up" in safe areas and never leave them. It's not funny if you never come out
Step 5. Choose a direct or indirect play style
Some games will allow players to be eliminated with only lethal shots from the Nerf rifle, while others expand other indirect types of elimination, such as poisoning, bombs and other types of "kills".
Putting in a Nerf bullet or a piece of paper labeled "poison" is sometimes allowed, as is firing a Nerf bullet marked "explosive". Indirect methods of play vary from case to case
Step 6. Before starting a game, make sure you have a welcoming place to play
Some campuses have banned the game after a series of misunderstandings and complaints. If you are going to chase and shoot yourself with Nerf guns, try not to get in trouble. Making things clear at the beginning will ensure everyone has the opportunity to have fun without worries.
- Many campuses will not allow games during class hours or in campus buildings. Use precautions and make sure you don't violate their rules.
- Let the neighbors know about the possibility that your friends might be walking around your house with Nerf guns so they don't call the police.
Step 7. Contact the administrator or referee when you are eliminated
Usually, it is the administrator's job to let everyone else know of the eliminated players and it is the job of the eliminated player to let the referee know that they are out of the game. Matches usually last several days at a time and may include several rounds where objectives are changed or reconfigured.
In certain games, once you kill a player, you will take on the job and get a new one. In games like this, the game continues until all but one of the players have been eliminated
Method 2 of 3: Design the strategy
Step 1. Be discreet
Heading into your target as soon as you see it is a good way to be eliminated. You have to be cool and follow your goal for a while, to learn its paths and hiding places. Keep safe areas in mind and find places to hide while waiting for your goal.
Certain matches have special appointments for witnesses. If you are playing under this kind of discrete rules, no one is allowed to see you eliminate someone else without taking a penalty. Sometimes, too many witnesses could lead to eliminated players being fished out with you as a target. Keep these rules in mind and be discreet
Step 2. Get inside the head of your goal
What kind of player is he? Reckless? Conservative? Where does he live? Where would he hide? What could be the best way to find it yourself and hit it? Once you start thinking like your opponent, victory is closer.
Step 3. Get close and stay close
Usually, players will be over-cautious, but you could try to forge a fake alliance and get close to another player, follow him, learn his moves, and let him let his guard down around you. Stay alert for a good opportunity to strike.
You may be tempted to use other friends who aren't playing and try to get them to do your dirty work. Generally, it is not allowed
Step 4. Take your time
Let the opportunities reveal themselves rather than get carried away. Don't worry about diving in and shooting all your bullets. Wait for the right moment and then strike. Learn to be mindful as you go about your daily chores, being ready to move at the slightest notice. It keeps the game exciting and fun!
Step 5. Change your habits
Don't forget to play defense too. Take different routes to get home and learn not to stray from safe areas while playing. Learn about other players' habits on a specific day so you can avoid those areas and plan routes that will keep you safe.
Method 3 of 3: Playing the role
Step 1. Get the equipment
Obviously the Nerf shotgun is a must, but dark clothing and knee / elbow pads, along with leather gloves are what it takes to get you into the spirit of the game. And binoculars and sunglasses? Why not? Popular varieties of Nerf guns include:
- The "Rapidstrike"
- The "Centurion"
- The "Elite Stryfe"
- The "Vortex Diatron"
Step 2. Learn to move with the equipment
It helps to be able to run a little, so you should be fit and ready to move. If you manage to outrun your killers, you will have a better chance of winning.
Step 3. Practice a little with your Nerf gun
Even the most expensive models aren't necessarily the most accurate games out there. By throwing yourself into the game without practicing, you will wait for the perfect moment to eliminate someone and miss them and end up losing and feeling foolish. Practice shooting cans and other targets to get an idea of what your Nerf gun is capable of.
