The wedding is over and all the guests have gone home… You've already done all the cleaning and it's time to decide what to keep or not. For most women, flowers are very important, but they are difficult to keep. Read this article for simple methods on how to preserve your flowers even for years.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Hanging the flowers to dry them
Step 1. Tie the flowers together with a rubber band or string
Do not over tighten or the stems may break after drying.
Step 2. Hang the flowers upside down
Put them in a hard to reach place. Remember that children may not understand that they should not play with them and your cat may think they are an appetizing snack. Choose a place that is difficult for children and pets to reach.
Step 3. Leave the flowers hanging for 2-3 weeks
When they are dry, place them gently inside a vase. When you put them on display, make sure your kids or cat can't reach them.
Method 2 of 2: Press the Flowers
Step 1. Get some heavy volumes from your bookshelf, some newspaper and a plank, if you have one
Encyclopedias that nobody touches or yesterday's newspaper are fine.
Step 2. Place the flowers on the newspaper and cover them with more newspaper
Before arranging them, make sure there is a plank or book under the newspaper layers. If you close the flowers, you probably want to keep only some of them and not all of the bouquet. If you want to press all the flowers together, stack them on top of each other, or put a sheet of newspaper between each flower.
Step 3. Press the newsprint-covered flowers
Using your book, press on the top sheet of newspaper.
Step 4. Let them dry out and check from time to time if there is a need to change the paper
The flowers will be ready after a few weeks, until all the moisture is absorbed. Since flowers have a lot of moisture and you don't want to ruin your books, change your newspaper often.
Step 5. Be careful when touching the flowers
After they have dried, pressed flowers are extremely delicate and should be stored in the middle of a photo album or book.
