Unfortunately, you can't change your eye color with the magic wand, but colored contact lenses come close. Whether you want to try them in a natural color to use them every day or if you want to be daring for the next costume party, read this article to find out how to use them.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Get the Colored Contact Lenses
Step 1. Decide what kind of lenses you need
If you have vision problems, you will have to buy prescription lenses, otherwise common lenses.
- If you have an eye doctor's prescription, you probably suffer from nearsightedness, presbyopia or astigmatism. The lenses, in addition to being colored, will have to adapt to your problem.
- If you have no vision problems, you can buy cosmetic lenses, which do not alter your vision.
- You can buy them from the optician or on the internet (online they cost less).
Step 2. Choose a color
- Natural effect lenses that can be worn every day include various colors: blue, green, hazel, brown and purple.
- Then there are some crazy lenses characterized by different motifs: with spirals or checkers, zebra stripes, with a white eye effect, etc.
Step 3. If you don't wear contact lenses, you will need to learn how to put them on:
make an appointment with an optometrist.
Step 4. Try different types of lenses and make sure they don't bother you:
not everyone can wear them and the same types of lenses are not suitable for everyone.
- The optometrist will give you the correct instructions to put them on and remove them without damaging your eyes.
- Also get some eye drops designed for contact lens wearers.
Part 2 of 2: Proper Use and Care
Step 1. Keep them clean
Always wash your hands before putting them on and taking them off and keep your nails short to avoid scratching the cornea.
Step 2. Put them on before you do your make-up and take them off before you take your make-up off so you don't stain them
Step 3. Do not share them with anyone to avoid contagion of infections
Step 4. Clean and change them regularly
Follow the optometrist's instructions.
Step 5. Keep them in their case, which should be changed every three months
Step 6. Hold them up for the time recommended by the optometrist, especially in the beginning
Step 7. Make sure you don't put them backwards:
doing so will not harm your eyes, but it will give you an uncomfortable feeling. To understand if you can wear them, place one lens at a time on the tip of your index finger: the edge should be regular.
Step 8. Take them off before going to bed
Sleeping in contact lenses can cause irritation and dryness in the morning.
Step 9. Take them off if they hurt or bother you
If you have red eyes, they itch, burn or hurt, something is wrong. Remove them and go to the optometrist.
Advice
- For a natural look, choose a color similar to that of your eyes, otherwise you will know that you are wearing colored contact lenses.
- Make sure you practice with your optometrist before trying it at home.
Warnings
- Because the size of the pupil changes constantly due to light, contact lenses can inhibit night vision when the pupil dilates.
- Contact lenses may shift slightly when you blink, which may indicate that you have been wearing tinted lenses and temporarily block your vision.
- Do not wear them if you do not have an ophthalmologist's prescription. The optometrist will decide what type of lenses to give you.
- Go to the doctor right away if you can't see well, your eyes hurt, or you have an infection or swelling.
- Contact lenses may make your eyes more photosensitive - wear sunglasses or a hat with a visor when you go out.
