Have you ever felt bored and useless? Now is the time to act! Be a responsible part of the global society!
Steps
Step 1. The feeling of being useless comes from deep psychological mechanisms
Being useful does not, by itself, eliminate the feeling of being useless. Conversely, not making a contribution to society (being a parasite of society) can create or amplify many negative feelings.
Step 2. The essence of human productivity is to take some resource and transform it into something else
To get some output, you need input. Take something or some material, move it to a place where it is most useful, or combine it with other materials to do something else. Not all of us have access to the best inputs. There is no free input, but far-sighted people have created things like the internet, which can be the coolest thing to have access to inputs. Your local library is another low-cost or free source of input. It may seem incredible when you intend to create something from yourself, that the first thing you need to do is carry some things inside of you. But the truth is that to be a producer, you must first of all be a consumer. You cannot be productive based on a "clean slate".
Step 3. Consider the effects each of your actions will have on others
Step 4. Feelings are contagious
Smile and be nice to whoever you meet (even if the cat scratched your favorite jacket last night). If you have suppressed negative emotions, people around you will feel it and have "negative feelings", so find a friend to talk to.
Step 5. Give more than you take (think karma)
Think of society as sand in a playpen. Each time you "get lucky", you get more sand to play with. Be grateful for this and, next time you get the chance, help someone else (altruistic acts create mutual positive feeling, see point 3).
Step 6. Listening and sharing feelings is mutual
When you tell / share a negative feeling with someone else, let them share theirs too. Try to balance by sharing something positive as well. This will help the people closest to you to get rid of feelings that otherwise affect the spirit (step 3), and through mutual sharing and listening you are making a contribution as a reliable character.
The opposite choice is to throw up your emotions and leave the burden to others to clean up the mess of emotions you have poured on them
Step 7. Direct intervention
This is both under- and overrated. When you find a way to do a direct intervention (help an elderly person open a door, give junk to the homeless on the corner) take the opportunity and do it with a smile.
Step 8. Observe
Most of the time we are unable to take action against corruption and injustice, sometimes we can support a person subjected to this by showing the victim (a colleague who just got a scolding from the boss) that you agree with him. Few times in your life will you have a chance to really fix things (for example, anonymously sending evidence of your boss bribery to a news agency). The feeling of victory is unbeatable.
Step 9. Donate blood
A shortage of blood or plasma will force surgeons to give each patient less blood and plasma, replacing them with inferior products. The downside for you is that you walk home with a band-aid on your arm that discreetly states that you just did an altruistic act.
Step 10. Never discriminate
While groups may be over-represented in statistics, this says nothing about any individual.
Step 11. Protect the weak
Step 12. Join a charity, raise money, and try to raise awareness of the cause
Step 13. Save a life
Register as a stem cell donor to help save people from leukemia.
